A few days ago, Disney almost broke the internet with news of their submission of plans and dates for reopening Walt Disney World. Today we finally received the awaited approval.

The Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation wrote a letter approving the plans. The letter was addressed to Jeff Vahle, the new President of the Walt Disney World Resort. In it, the department addressed that the Walt Disney World Resort has in fact taken all the necessary steps to reopen safely, and the plans are officially approved!
Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings shared:
“I am pleased to announce that I have received word from Halsey Beshears, Secretary of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, that Walt Disney World Resort and SeaWorld have received approval of their re-opening plans. Sea World will reopen June 10 and Walt Disney World Resort will be July 11,”
Since the announcement of the reopening plans, Disney has been sharing updates on new procedure changes that will impact upcoming visits. Currently, all dining and FastPass+ reservations are cancelled and any new bookings paused.
Disney is hoping to welcome guests with existing reservations and prioritize those folks before allowing new bookings to be made.
The reopening will be an adjusted experience as well. Disney has decided to temporarily cancel crowd gathering experiences like Fireworks, parades, and shows to minimize those big crowd gatherings. Also, character meet and greets will be suspended for the time being.
Although the experience upon reopening will be altered, we believe Disney will do everything they can to keep the magic alive while keeping all visiting guests and cast safe!
Which theme parks are you looking forward to going back to first? We cannot wait to step back into Magic Kingdom and see Cinderella Castle in person again.
