Since Disney World and Disneyland temporarily shut down Disney has been sharing animation tutorials, including instructions for drawing Mickey Mouse through the ages, via their Disney Family and Walt Disney Animation Studios YouTube channels.
Today, the Disney animation team is back with instructions for sketching Louis, the jazz-loving alligator from The Princess and the Frog. The tutorial is led by Disney animator Eric Goldberg.
Goldberg begins the 9:00 animation tutorial by informing viewers that “most animated characters start with a circle.” This is helpful advice if you plan to attempt to draw any other Disney animated sidekicks, like Sven or Olaf, while you have extra time at home right now.
Goldberg goes on to provide step-by-step instructions for how to draw the lovable Louis. No matter what your skill level is, you’re sure to have fun sketching Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen’s best friend from the bayou!
If sketching Louis gets you in the mood for more Tiana & Co., you’re in luck. At last year’s D23 Expo, Walt Disney World officials confirmed that a Princess and the Frog-themed restaurant will be incorporated into the upcoming Reflections – A Lakeside Disney Lodge DVC resort.
Slated to open in 2022, this new Disney Vacation Club property gives Disney fans something fun to look forward to as the company moves into the future.
