Disney Begins to Delay Bookings for 2021 Disney Cruise Line Vacation

This week, Disney has started to delay bookings for some 2021 Disney Cruise Line vacations, namely for Disney Vacation Club member cruises. If you are a Disney Vacation Club member or you are planning to take a Disney vacation or Disney cruise in 2021, keep this in mind.

DVCNews reports that Disney had scheduled a Disney Vacation Club member cruise that was set to depart on June 12, 2021. The cruise was going to be exclusive to DVC owners, meaning only those who were part of DVC would be able to book this particular cruise. Originally, Disney had scheduled booking for DVC members to open up beginning May 2, 2020, around 13 months before the cruise was set to depart.

However, according to the Disney Vacation Club members-only website, Disney has now delayed the booking for this DVC member cruise.

“Please note that the reservation window is being moved, so booking will open in late summer 2020. Check back for the booking date and more details,” the announcement on the DVC website read.

The June 12-17, 2021 cruise aboard the Disney Fantasy is going to sail throughout the Western Caribbean from Port Canaveral and even include a day on Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay. Members-only DVC cruises are vacations that DVC owners look forward to because everything about the cruise is geared toward DVC members: there is exclusive entertainment, decorations, activities, and the opportunity to meet others who are part of the vacation club.

At this time, it’s not been made clear by Disney why the company has made the call to delay the booking of this DVC members-only cruise. So far, Disney has canceled the sailings of all Disney Cruises through mid-June (including cruises in the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Magic, and Disney Wonder) and some through early July (namely cruises on the Disney Wonder) after the CDC announced the “no sail order” for at least 100 days.

It’s clear from Disney’s actions in temporarily closing all U.S. Disney Parks and Resorts and suspending all Disney Cruise Line sailings that the company is keeping the health and safety of its guests and Cast Members as a high priority. Once more information comes to light regarding future Disney Cruise Line vacations — including whether more Disney Cruises will be canceled beyond this June and July and if Disney will further delay the booking of even more 2021 cruises — we will be sure to update Inside the Magic.
