Here’s some news that will have reboot haters screaming “You’re killing me smalls!” A reboot series of The Sandlot is on its way to Disney+ and we couldn’t be more excited.
The news was confirmed by the original film’s director, David Mickey Evans, on the podcast The Rain Delay.
“I just finished The Sandlot sequel,” he explained. “I just sold a Sandlot television show. We’re about to get an order for [the] first two seasons.”
When asked about where we would be able to catch this new revival series, Evans told the listeners without actually telling them.
“I can’t tell you who is going to stream it,” he said. “But, I know who’s going to stream it…It doesn’t take a genius to figure that out right now.”
“No, I can’t talk about it,” he continued. “But I already got all the original cast members back. It takes place in 1984 when they are all like 33 years-old and they all have children of their own and that is all I can tell you.”

Let’s repeat that. All of the original cast members will be returning as adults with children of their own. The fact that they were able to gather everybody together now-27 years later is an impressive feat. But yes, we have reason to believe that it’s undoubtedly going to be streamed on Disney+. The beloved baseball film and cult classic that started it all is expected to be available for streaming on Disney+ in the near future. (While reported by others to be on Disney+ right now, a quick search of the streaming site proved otherwise.)

The Sandlot was released in 1993 by 20th Century Fox. It was about a group of neighborhood kids getting together every day to play baseball and it showcased a romantic side of America’s pastime. Evans showcased the game in an age when it was–in his opinion–still fun and where home runs were still seen as magical moments. With franchises like The Mighty Ducks and Remember the Titans in its portfolio, it’s no surprise that Disney would rush to add The Sandlot after acquiring 20th Century Fox, now called 20th Century Studios. It fits right in with Disney Movies.
is one of the few non- TV series planned. Others include the spinoff series on Obi-Wan Kenobi, the reboot series, and ‘s Monsters at Work.
