Just a few days ago, we reported that Hilary Duff suggested the Lizzie McGuire reboot was not exactly “family-friendly” enough for the Disney streaming service.

Similar to why the Love, Simon series was reportedly moved to Hulu, it looks as though that is the same reason why the original show creator was also taken off the project — For “family-friendly” reasonings.

And now, Duff is speaking out about the possibility of the Lizzie McGuire reboot moving to Hulu as well as her thoughts and reasoning behind the show. On February 28, 2020, Hilary Duff posted a photo on Instagram.

“Was incredibly excited to launch ‘Lizzie’ on D+ and my passion remains!” the post began.

“However, I feel a huge responsibility to honor the fans’ relationship with LIZZIE who, like me, grew up seeing themselves in her. I’d be doing a disservice to everyone by limiting the realities of a 30 year old’s journey to live under the ceiling of a PG rating.”

Duff continued, “It’s important to me that just as her experience as a preteen/teenager navigating life were authentic, her next chapters are equally as real and relatable. It would be a dream if Disney let us move the show to Hulu, if they were interested, and I could bring this beloved character to life again.”

More On The Lizzie McGuire Reboot

Original cast members of the Disney Channel show, Lizzie McGuire, were all expected to return to reprise their roles — Including Hallie ToddRobert CarradineJake Thomas, who played Jo McGuire (Lizzie’s Mom), Sam McGuire (Lizzie’s Dad), and Matt McGuire (Lizzie’s brother). Also previously announced were Adam Lamberg as “Gordo” and, of course, animated Lizzie.

When Duff announced Gordo would be returning to the series, the Internet went crazy! “Gordo was an essential piece of the puzzle to what made the original Lizzie McGuire so authentic and beloved. I couldn’t imagine the series without him,” said Hilary Duff. “I can’t wait for fans to see what he’s up to 15 years later and how he fits into Lizzie’s adult world,” Duff continued.

At the 2019 D23 expo, Hilary Duff, came out on stage and told fans what they can expect from the upcoming Disney+ series.

“Just like me and everyone who loved Lizzie and grew up with her, Lizzie has also grown up,” Duff said. “She’s older, she’s wiser, she has a more expensive show budget…she has her dream job…she has her dream guy…she has her dream apartment…and she’s about to celebrate her 30th birthday.”

As of right now, we are unsure if Disney is moving forward with the Lizzie McGuire reboot or if there even is a possibility of it moving to Hulu, but according to Hilary Duff, it looks like that could become its new home.

You can currently stream the Original Disney Channel Series, Lizzie McGuire, along with the Lizzie McGuire Movie on Disney+.
