A fire unexpectedly broke out tonight at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, leading to an apparent power outage and evacuation from a couple of areas of the theme park.

The news of the power outage came after a fire broke out in a backstage area of Disneyland park adjacent to the Disneyland Fire Station on Main Street, U.S.A. and the backside of the Jungle Cruise attraction, which is located in Adventureland. The fire reportedly may have started because of one or more generators in a backstage area with vegetation, positioned just adjacent to the Fire Department, which is also the building that houses Walt Disney’s old apartment on the second floor. However, at this time it has only been confirmed by Disneyland officials that the fire occurred backstage, and the exact cause has not yet been disclosed by Disney.

Local Orange County fire crews reported to the scene just after 6 p.m. this evening and were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, but it reportedly caused a power outage across a major portion of the theme park including Adventureland, Main Street, U.S.A., and The Golden Horseshoe restaurant in Frontierland.

Here are some tweets from guests stuck at the scene as the situation unfolded:

The image shared below also shows some of the power outage on Main Street:

At the time of the blaze, guests were being evacuated from the area by Cast Members, as you can see in the videos above, and no injuries have been reported. The park did not close.

Once again, Cast members are displayed tremendous composure and grace under pressure to get every Disneyland park guest out of the area as quickly and safely as possible. If there is one group of people that can handle any crowd in any situation, it would be Disney Cast Members. If your Disneyland vacation is imminent or you’re there now concerned about the status of the rest of your trip, Disneyland Guest Services is standing by to answer any questions you may have concerning these events.

Still, tonight is proving to be a bad night for Disney Parks across the U.S. as extremely high winds in Florida have caused fireworks cancelations as well as the closure of the Skyliner. You can read about that story right here.

The Disneyland fire is a developing story, and we will continue to monitor Disneyland park and update Inside the Magic as more information becomes available regarding the incident.
