Big Top Souvenirs has had it hard lately. After the fires that sparked in December of 2019 causing the merchandise location to be shuttered for a short period of time, the Storybook Circus Big Top Souvenirs space closed this week. Possibly due to flooding and the following carpet replacement as well as clean up. Cast Members were stationed outside the shopping location in Magic Kingdom this week directing Guests to other activities and options for Disney Souvenirs in nearby Fantasyland and Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World Resort.

The large, roomy, and air-conditioned store is a popular browsing location for families with small children. The wide aisles and large selection of both treats and merchandise is a welcome site for sleeping babies in strollers with parents in tow. Those looking to wait out the heat often stop here for a cool down and refreshment. Candy apples and themed Rice Krispy treats are a popular item for this store.

But when Guests drew near this week, they were directed elsewhere. Being told a flood has closed the shop, some Cast Members relied on their storytelling skills, saying that the animals had broken loose inside and the keepers were trying to rearrange everyone! Others mentioned that Dumbo the Flying Elephant held a pool party overnight and there was a lot of water to mop up. Most Cast Members were unsure when the location would reopen due to possible repairs and cleanup, but hopefully, later this week doors would once again be opened.

We’re hoping that you can continue to shop for Goofy and Dumbo hats later this week, so stay tuned for more news on Big Top Souvenirs in Storybook Circus. If you’re looking for another comprehensive place to shop in Magic Kingdom, the Main Street Emporium is always a great place to start. They have nearly all the popular must-haves for Walt Disney World Resort, and you can find fine art, jewelry, purses and some Dapper Day magic across the street at Uptown Jewelers.

You can still meet and greet Minnie Mouse, Daisy, Goofy, and Donald at Pete’s Silly Sideshow, which was unaffected by the closure. Characters often greet guests from 10am to 7:30pm, though times vary each day. Be sure to check the Parks Calendar or the attraction page. Want a pro tip? The line for the popcorn cart right outside the Storybook Circus sign typically has low waits for refills and varieties of the specialty popcorn bucket. There are new collectible offerings all the time!
