No Skyliner Transportation to runDisney Races

Of course, if you have completed a runDisney event in the past, this makes perfect sense as the Race Village, Start, and Finish lines typically are staged in the Epcot parking lots. The Epcot Skyliner station is in the back of the Park, which at these morning hours, would not be open to guests to walk through and continue on to the Parking Lot. While logic may follow that you could “skyline” to a nearby Epcot Resort and then take the bus, this is an added step because long bus lines form at each runDisney host resort.  Runners should wisely use the provided bus transportation at their Resort Hotel location. As a runner, you may want to ask a Cast Member where the runDisney buses are picking up, as sometimes it is not the regular bus station at the Resort.

How To Get to The runDisney Races

No Skyliner transportation available on Race Days should come as no surprise to veteran Disney runners, as runDisney provides plush coach buses to the front of each Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. These buses take Guests and Runners daily to the Expo at ESPN Wide World of Sports, as well as to and from the early morning races. Race transportation via bus famously starts around 3:30am and continues throughout the morning.

runDisney clarified the transportation policy/availability on their website and points runners to the Marathon Weekend event guide that went out a month before the first race dates. The Skyliner is mentioned in the first paragraph under Transportation.

Skyliner not Available for Spectators, Either

Spectators have been able to check the maps on the runDisney website for approved locations to view the races. In the past, Guests and spectators would line the entire course, from Resort Hotels to the finish line. These policies have changed and spectators not purchasing a chEAR Squad package can see the approved spectator locations on this site. Spectators can use bus or monorail transportation to arrive to these locations, as well as driving to a specific Epcot parking lot marked on the website. Once regular Skyliner Hours begin, Guests of all kinds may use the transportation service as typically intended.
