It looks like a Baby Yoda plush launched online this morning — but it wasn’t long before Walmart had removed it from their website.
Baby Yoda has been an internet sensation ever since the character was first introduced at the end of the very first episode of season one of The Mandalorian, which debuted on Disney’s new streaming service Disney+ on November 12. The character — who is more formally called The Child but who fans have endearingly dubbed Baby Yoda considering the resemblance the character has to the original Yoda — is absolutely adorable and has taken social media by storm, with fans creating hilarious tweets and memes about the little guy.
And with such a high demand for good Baby Yoda merchandise, it’s no surprise that the day after Cyber Monday, Walmart had listed an all-new Baby Yoda product on its website. But what might surprise you is the fact that the product listing seems to have been an accident.
This morning, an 11-inch plush doll made by Mattell was listed on the Walmart website. It was being sold for $24.99 and was listed with a shipping date of July 1. Polygon reports that a notice on the page indicated that Walmart was unsure of what the final product would look like and was relying on its manufacturer partner to finalize the look of the product before delivery.
Take a look at the original image of the Mattell Baby Yoda plush doll that was included in the product listing on the Walmart website but was removed shortly after on Tuesday morning. As you can see, Baby Yoda is positioned in the classic “T-pose.” It also looks like the packaging is meant to resemble the floating bassinet from The Mandalorian.

“Fully embrace the cuteness of the 50-year-old Yoda species with this adorable 11-inch plush toy. He may look like a Baby Yoda, but this lovable creature is referred to as The Child. Inspired by the Disney+ live-action series The Mandalorian, this sweet Star Wars plush toy makes a Force-sensitive addition to your collection,” reads the original description of the product, as it was written on the Walmart website.
Keep in mind that even though we’ve had to wait a while before getting our hands on any Baby Yoda merchandise, it’s for good reason. Showrunner Jon Favreau and his team wanted to avoid all possible spoilers for The Mandalorian, but unfortunately, this meant that retailers and manufacturers weren’t able to have the character — who is clearly the most beloved in the series — available for purchase sooner.
It is also being reported that the Baby Yoda plus will become available for purchase on the Walmart website at 3 p.m. EST today, so it may have only been taken down this morning because it was accidentally listed earlier than planned. We’ll keep you updated as this story develops.
Update:
The Baby Yoda plush is now available for preorder on the Walmart website. You can find it here.
You don’t need a tracking fob to find new items inspired by The Child from #TheMandalorian.
