The holiday season is the most magical time of the year — especially at Walt Disney World.
There is no better place to spend the holiday season. From special holiday events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Epcot’s Festival of the Holidays to Epcot’s Candlelight Processional, The Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! show at Hollywood Studios, and even brand new holiday décor in Discovery Island at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the fun never ends!
But the parks aren’t the only ones ringing in this wonderful time of the year. There is nothing like the Walt Disney World resorts during this season.
Each of Disney’s 28 themed resorts dresses up and decorates for the holidays, catering to their own unique theme. Here’s why they’re worth a visit, even if you aren’t checking in!
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa
Each and every year, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa takes the cake with their famous gingerbread house display in the lobby.
If you think this masterpiece is incredible in the photo, wait until you see it live and in person! It is outstanding. And each year it is slightly different, so even if you’ve stopped by in the past, make sure you drop in on your next trip.
The Christmas tree they have on display is also worth stopping and looking at. Beautiful ornaments and bright lights complete the look and feel that everyone longs for during this time of year.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Disney’s Grand Floridian isn’t the only resort with a gingerbread house. Hop on the monorail and head over to Disney’s Contemporary Resort because they also have a popular gingerbread display that is a must-see! Last year, the display featured Cinderella’s Castle along with Cinderella herself, Prince Charming, and Fairy Godmother.
And in 2016, the theme was based around the popular film, “Frozen”. You can see Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Sven, and of course everyone’s favorite snowman, Olaf.
Disney’s Beach Club Resort
If that’s not enough gingerbread displays for you, then head on over to Disney’s Beach Club Resort for an almost life-size version of a gingerbread carousel – complete with moving horses!
Disney’s Yacht Club
Then, head next door to Disney’s Yacht Club for even more holiday decor. Usually displayed in the lobby, this resort puts out a charming gingerbread train display, perfect for the holidays.
Disney’s Polynesian Resort
Of course, we all know Disney’s Polynesian Resort is Hawaiian themed, and as I mentioned earlier, each resort decorates according to their theme. That’s why the tree in the lobby of the Polynesian is covered in tropical themed holiday decorations!
Wilderness Lodge
My all time favorite Walt Disney World Resort is The Wilderness Lodge. There is nothing like celebrating the holiday season in the great outdoors. Check out this 60-foot-tall Christmas tree is the hotel lobby. This sure does take my breath away.
At all 28 resorts, you will find sweet holiday treats as well in the quick service areas. From gingerbread cookies to decorated sugar cookies, and sometimes you may even find holiday themed candy apples! Grab a cup of hot coco and you’ll be in the holiday spirit in no time!
