Wizarding World sweet treats

Magical munchies found within Harry Potter books and movies now tempt muggles at several Wizarding World locations within Universal Studios Florida theme parks. From spell-tacular snacks to bewitching beverages, famous flavors found within Hogsmeade Village (Islands of Adventure) and Diagon Alley (Universal Studios Florida) must be sampled.

Universal’s immersive and incredibly themed Harry Potter realms each have their own signature restaurants (Three Broomsticks and the Leaky Cauldron). However, our broom ride focuses on finding those quick service (and shopping) selections.

Pastries of the Potterverse

Found at Honeydukes (Hogsmeade) and Sugar Plum’s (Diagon Alley), these delicious display case delights are freshly made. Requiring assistance from the witch or wizard working behind the counter, the following favorites can often be found:

Fantastic Fudge
Sugary sweet slabs of melt-in-your-mouth creamy confections found in fantastic flavor varieties summon sweet-toothed muggles. From Butterbeer to Cookies and cream;  these fine flavors can be found mingling with the other pastries at each shop’s glass case of magical munchies.

Cauldron Cakes
These miniature spell cauldron sweets have evolved since Harry Potter and friends first arrived at Islands of Adventure. No longer a complicated, chocolate mousse filled cake creation, each treat now boasts brightly colored flames (buttercream icing) on top of a rich chocolate cake. To maintain uniformity and easy delivery, cauldron cakes are served in a reusable silicone molded cauldron (packaged in their own recipe stamped box).

No Melt Ice Cream
Inspired by mysterious non-melting treat seen in “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” No Melt Ice Cream is served in several flavors, including butter beer!

Pumpkin Cakes
With stout stems and orange colored icing, pumpkin cakes can also be found in the baker’s case of confections. Sticky sweet, these pastries portray the good gourd in cake form.

Pumpkin Pasties
Turnover styled sweets, these pumpkin pockets are a bit sweeter than “regular” pumpkin pie flavored fillings. A strong cinnamon finish also accompanied these palm-sized pastries.

Shelves stuffed with sweets

In addition to the above freshly conjured collection of confections, both Honeyduke’s and Sugarplum’s Sweet Shop stock a cauldron full of candies and treats.

A sampling of these magical munchies includes the following:

Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans
This mostly enjoyable mix of exotic jelly bean flavors includes a few less than desirable surprises. Keeping in line with Professor Dumbledore’s experience with the candy, expect to find “ear wax” and “vomit” flavored beans. Fortunately, each box includes a picture guide to each jellybean’s true nature.

Chocolate Caramel Cobwebs
Chocolate spiderweb shapes grace the tops of caramel discs for this boxed confection.

Chocolate Cauldron
Chocolate Cauldrons found at Honeydukes and Sugar Plum’s are not, like those found in the novels, filled with Firewhisky. Nor are they spiked with love potion. Instead, these cauldron shaped temptations are made from milk chocolate and marshmallow topping.

Chocolate Frogs
Just like the sweet treats Harry Potter purchased on the Hogwarts Express, chocolate frogs come complete with collectible wizard trading card. These palm sized solid milk chocolate amphibians are available at both sweet shops. They can also be ordered online.

Dark Mark Lollipops
Found in assorted flavors, these tattoo shaped suckers are perfect for Death Eaters and followers of He-who-must-not-be-named.

Exploding Bon Bons
Filled with orange and pineapple popping candy, these rich white chocolate confections are bursting with flavor.

Fizzing Whizzbees
Chocolate shaped flies filled with popping candy. It can only be assumed that the flies used are fruit flies as the fizzing center of these wizarding favorites are fruit flavored (raspberry).

Fudge Flies and Peppermint Toads
While both the chocolate fudge flies and chocolate-peppermint toads are quite tasty, it might not be wise to store them next to each other?

Glacial Snowflakes
Creamy squares of sugary sweetness, Glacial Snowflakes give new meaning to “cool.” Soothing peppermint cubes magically melt in the mouth.

Sherbet Lemon
Sugar coated cubes of hard lemon candy can be found waiting in apothecary jars on the shelves of Honeydukes. The better than average candy is well known to a favorite of Hogwarts’ Headmaster, Professor Dumbledore.

Shock O Chock

Similar to the bold flavor found at Fortescue’s Ice Cream shop, these chocolates are not for timid taste buds. While this dark chocolate treat may appear innocent, true to it description, it comes with a shock: they are laced with chili powder!

Fizzy Wizzy
Another fun surprise sweet, these small globes of assorted fizzing candies are also part of the bulk candy collection in Honeydukes and Sugar Plums.

Pepper Imps
Taking a brief detour from their original literary color, jars of these red, cinnamon flavored hard candies line the shelves at both sweet shops.

Dolly Beads
This string of sweet-tart-like hard candy is part of a collection of bulk treats that can be added to a glass jar to create personal mixes of magical munchies.

Magical Munchie Mischief

Additional boxed, fiendishly fun treats can also be found at Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes! (Diagon Alley).

Liquid Love Potion
This rosy tasting corn syrup specialty is easily spotted by its bright pink heart shape.  The small vial filled with floral flavored fluid found at the Weaseley brothers shoppe, Carkitt Market and Eternelle’s Elixir of Refreshment. All three locations reside within Diagon Alley.

Skiving Snackbox contains a collection of eccentric yet tasty magical munchies:

Fainting Fancies are a combination of lemon and orange flavors. The sugar coated jelly candy patty places these flavors side by side.

Fever Fudge features a pale blue green almost flavorless fudge. Embedded withing this waxy square are spicy, chewy, jellybean-like candies.

Puking Pastilles provide a stick to your teeth diamond shape green and purple candies.

Each of the items found in the snack box can also be purchased separately. Weasleys’ is located next to (and connected to) Sugar Plum’s Sweet Shop in Diagaon Alley at Universal Studios Florida.

Frozen Fun

Parked within Diagon Alley, Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor provides hand scooped and soft serve frozen treats. Enchanting the taste buds with exotic and fun frozen flavors, Fortescue’s also sells a small selection of beverages. In the earlier part of the morning, muggles and wizards managing to make their way into the shop early in the day might be tempted by pastries like shortbread and crumble cake.

Ice Cream incarnations at Fortescue’s can include:

Butterbeer

Chocolate Chili

Granny Smith

Sticky Toffee Pudding

Earl Gray & Lavender

Salted Caramel Blondie

Chocolate & Raspberry

Pleasing Potions

Enjoying magical munchies would be incomplete without enjoying the experience of the Wizarding World’s wicked selection of Potter-centric potions. Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley deliver diverse and delicious drink delights. Beverages for mature muggles (alcoholic drinks for those over 21) as well as a wide refreshment variety suitable for all ages.

Eternelle’s Elixir of Refreshment, found within Diagon Alley, might be Gillywater’s best friend. By adding any of these enhancements, flavor flows freely. Choose from Elixir to Induce Euphoria, Druaght of Peace, Fire Protection or Babbling Beverage.

Fountain of Fair Fortune, bewitching beverages are found within Diagon Alley. Fair Fortune offers a mix of brews (for ages 21+) like Dragon Scale Ale and Wizard’s brew.

Nonalcoholic options are also offered:

Butter Beer & Frozen Butter Beer
Both beloved beverages are undeniably the most popular of all the magical munchies from the Harry Potter stories. Butterscotch base with a vanilla creamy topping that’s perfect for making”drink mustaches.”

Pumpkin Juice
Along with its namesake ingredient, this popular Potter beverage also contains apple juice and apricot puree.

Pumpkin Fizz
Imagine drinking a pumpkin pie flavored soda.  Though only slightly carbonated, pumpkin fizz is almost exactly that.

Gillywater
Bottled water inspired by Gillyweed, the magical plant that allowed Harry to breathe underwater, can be purchased here.

A TIP for those who want soft serve butter beer ice cream, and don’t want to wait in the long line for Fortescue’s. Staff at Fountain of Fair Fortune are able to procure the sweet treat from the neighboring ice cream shop.

Hopping Pot is a walk up (after a short queue) refreshment respite tucked away in the corner of Diagon Alley (near the performance stage). Magical munchies include beef pasties, butter beer ice cream and an assortment of chips.

Muggles and wizards over 21 years of age might enjoy a cold one. Enchantments include Wizard’s Brew (slightly chocolate flavored dark stout), Dragon Scale (similar to Killian’s Red Ale), and Fire Whisky (similar to Fireball).

Inspired by the Harry Potter books and movies, a spellbinding selection of brilliant beverages is also served:

Butter Beer (cold or frozen)
A super sweet Potter fan favorite, as described above, is also sometimes served hot.

Fishy Green Ale
Intended to look like pond water filled with fish eggs, Fishy Green Ale is actually quite delicious.  Mildly mint and cinnamon flavored fun, this non-alcoholic beverage is loaded with blueberry flavored boba tea bubbles.

Gillywater
This themed bottled water, as described above, is always on hand.

Otter’s Fizzy Orange Juice
Vanilla and orange flavor combine to form the perfect mildly carbonated cooler (non-alcoholic). Rimmed with cinnamon sugar, Otter’s Fizzy Orange Juice is always garnished with a slice of orange.

Peachtree Fizzing Tea
Slightly carbonated, this peach powered potion hides a hint of ginger.

Pumpkin Juice
Along with its namesake ingredient, this popular Potter beverage also contains apple juice and apricot puree.

Tongue Tying Lemon Squash
Double the lemon and twice as tart, the flavor is balanced with a hint of vanilla. Only found within Diagon Alley, most likely the best lemonade around!

Hogs Head Pub is home to its own special Hogs Head brew along with a full bar of adult potion possibilities.  Located next door to the Three Broomsticks (Hogsmeade Village), Hogs Head’s magical munchie manifestations also include fan favorites like Butter Beer and Pumpkin Juice.

Butter Beer Carts are located near both entrances to Hogsmeade. Each serves butterbeer on tap along with a small assortment of cold beverages like bottled pumpkin juice and gillywater.

From fishy green ale to pumpkin pasties, these must have magical munchies cleverly cast their spell over hungry muggles. Tempting treats and pleasing potions, and of these delicious delights are sure to add extra enchantment while visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Which Wizarding World treat is a must have when visiting Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade Village?
