Candy Sushi masterpieces featuring rice cereal, pink candy accents, and playful gummy fish sit atop a bamboo mat, just like the edible creations you can whip up yourself at Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival Culinary Workshop.

Take a look at the Candy Sushi Culinary Workshop, presented by Skittles, one of the newest offerings at 2018 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival at Walt Disney World.

Foodies beware, Epcot has brought a super-sweet twist to the traditional Asian sushi dish in this all-new Candy Sushi Culinary Workshop, a complimentary experience found at 2018 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.

In this new experience, guests get to learn how to roll a sushi-inspired confectionary creation with real Disney chefs.

Found at Sunshine Seasons in The Land pavilion, this experience invites guests of all ages to sharpen their itamae skills in this family-friendly culinary workshop. You’ll be taught how to turn your favorite classic sweets like dummies, fruit strips and crisped rice into masterful maki- or nigiri-style sushi rolls.

The Experience

The class begins with all guests taking their seats around a special seating area roped off in the dining area of Sunshine Seasons restaurant. Sitting in front of each guest is a bundle of sweets including two sheets of crisped rice, two Fruit Roll-Ups, a small package of M&M’s, a set of two Twix bars and a package of Swedish Fish.

A candy sushi DIY kit awaits on a table, featuring a Twix bar, Rice Krispies treat, Fruit Roll-Up, M&M’s, and two wrapped candy sticks—just like the whimsical sweets guests create at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival’s Culinary Workshop.

Next to the sweet bundles are sushi rolling mats, a folding chef hat, and three sushi recipe cards. Each card gives step-by-step instructions for the creation of the Candy Sushi each guest is about to make.

A tempting display of snacks in playful paper trays and colorful placemats, set atop striped paper sheets—capturing the festive, interactive spirit of Epcot’s beloved Candy Sushi Culinary Workshop during the International Food & Wine Festival.

A festive table set up for a theme park cooking demo features a blank recipe sheet, colorful snack trays, bamboo mats, and certificates on display, inviting guests to join in the interactive culinary fun.

The next sushi roll we created during the workshop was the Candy ForYa Roll.

Guests were instructed to cut the second crisped rice sheet into four pieces, which we were then told to roll into four individual balls.

A playful Candy Sushi Rice Krispies treat, rolled up and ready to slice on a bamboo mat—complete with plastic wrap and a knife—reminiscent of the creative sweets made during Epcot International Food & Wine Festival’s Culinary Workshop at Walt Disney World.

Next came the unraveling and the cutting up of our second Fruit Roll-Up into four separate strips.

Candy Sushi magic in action: four whimsical rice krispie sushi rolls paired with vibrant red gummy strips rest on a bamboo mat, waiting for fans at EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival Culinary Workshop to create their own theme park-inspired sweet treats.

Then came placing the Swedish Fish on top of our four crisped rice balls, which we were to wrap in our cut up Fruit Roll-Ups.
