The newest Disney Cruise Line ship has completed her transatlantic voyage from the Meyer Werft construction yard, arriving this morning in New York. The Disney Fantasy will be christened there on Thursday, making a grand entrance today through New York Harbor, passing in front of the Statue of Liberty, leaving no doubt as to which city she’s arriving to the United States in.
Fans in New York normally watch Disney excitement unfold outside of their home town, staying connected to theme parks in California and Florida virtually. But today they had an opportunity to see Disney sights in person and eagerly shared pictures with us of the Disney Fantasy arriving to the port in New York.

Now docked, the Disney Fantasy will be the first Disney Cruise Line ship in history to be christened outside of Florida with the grand ceremony taking place on Thursday, March 1.
Debuting at the ship’s christening will be a new Champagne label from Taittinger created for the Disney Fantasy inaugural year, along with a special Taittinger Nocturne that will be featured in the ship’s Champagne-themed cocktail bar called Ooh La La, featuring Jessica Rabbit from the classic film “Who Framed Roger Rabbit Roger” on the bottle.
Prior to the Disney Fantasy’s arrival in New York, Disney Cruise Line guests could previously get a taste of the Big Apple via the Skyline lounge aboard her sister ship, the Disney Dream, featuring virtual vistas of some of the world’s most famous cities, including the BIg Apple.
But aboard the Fantasy, the Skyline lounge will be featured within the new Europa entertainment district, featuring virtual views from St. Petersburg, Russia; Athens, Greece; Florence, Italy; Budapest, Hungary; Paris; London and Barcelona Spain instead. That’s just one of the many features that will be enjoyed by guests once the Fantasy sets sail in March. Other unique entertainment offerings include a Muppets interactive game, ‘Wishes’ stage show, and Animation Magic dinner show.
Following the Christening, the Fantasy will make her way down to Port Canaveral in Florida, scheduled to arrive on March 6. She’ll then embark on a series of preview cruises followed by her maiden voyage on March 31.
Be sure to return to Inside the Magic near the end of March as we embark on the Disney Fantasy Inaugural Magical Preview Cruise from March 23-26, bringing back full coverage of all that is exciting and unique aboard the newest Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney Fantasy.
