Credit: Edited by Inside the MagicDisneyland Park has already made a major change involving one of its most recognizable characters, and now another classic experience is about to become unavailable.
Tinker Bell was recently hit with a removal announcement, beginning next week. While Pixie Hollow remains part of Disneyland Park, the area will also be dealing with a limited operating schedule, closing on Tuesdays and Thursdays through September 5, 2026.
Now, another longtime Disneyland favorite is joining the growing list of unavailable experiences.
Disneyland has confirmed that Haunted Mansion will close beginning August 8, 2026. Guests will have through Friday, August 7, to experience the classic version of the attraction before its seasonal transformation begins.
And that’s only one of several closures currently affecting Disneyland Resort. Today, let’s take a look at some of the major closures happening around Disneyland in California.
Haunted Mansion Closing August 8
As we shared previously, Haunted Mansion will officially close August 8 and remain unavailable through August 20, 2026.
The closure will allow Disneyland to install Haunted Mansion Holiday, its annual seasonal transformation inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993).
Haunted Mansion Holiday will open August 21 as Disneyland Resort begins its Halloween Time celebrations.
That means Friday, August 7, will be the final day guests can experience the traditional Haunted Mansion before the seasonal version takes over.
The August closure isn’t unexpected, since Disneyland regularly needs time to complete the extensive transformation. Still, its addition to the calendar creates another attraction guests will need to plan around during the busy late-summer period.
And Haunted Mansion isn’t alone.
Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition Remains Closed
Elsewhere inside Disneyland Park, Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition has been unavailable since July 6, 2026.
Unlike Haunted Mansion, this closure doesn’t currently have a confirmed ending date.
Disneyland has listed the attraction as closed with its reopening date still to be determined.
The longtime Frontierland experience has offered guests something considerably different from Disneyland’s traditional rides. Instead of boarding a vehicle, visitors could test their aim at interactive targets throughout the Old West-themed shooting gallery.
For now, guests shouldn’t assume it will be available during an upcoming trip unless Disneyland provides a reopening update.
Main Street Cinema Will Close Days Later
Another classic Disneyland Park location will follow Haunted Mansion onto the refurbishment calendar just two days later.
Main Street Cinema is scheduled to close August 10 and remain unavailable through August 27, 2026.
That creates a period in August when both Haunted Mansion and Main Street Cinema will be closed simultaneously.
Main Street Cinema’s closure is currently scheduled to be relatively brief, with the location expected to return August 28.
Even so, guests visiting during the middle of August will encounter several unavailable experiences throughout Disneyland Park.
Disney California Adventure Has Its Own Closures
Guests heading across the esplanade to Disney California Adventure won’t escape the closure list.
Silly Symphony Swings has been closed since April 27, 2026, and there is currently no announced reopening date.
The attraction has now remained unavailable for several months, making it one of the longer-running current closures at Disneyland Resort.
More recently, Chiller at Paradise Gardens Park became temporarily unavailable beginning July 26.
Disneyland has not provided a reopening date for that location, either.
Those closures mean guests visiting both theme parks may encounter unavailable experiences on each side of Disneyland Resort.
Avengers Campus Construction Changes How Guests Get Around
Disney California Adventure is also dealing with a closure that affects how guests move around the park.
The specific walkway connecting Avengers Campus and Cars Land has closed as work continues on the Avengers Campus expansion.
Guests can still move between these areas, but they will need to take alternate routes, including the Performance Corridor.
Unlike a ride refurbishment, this closure doesn’t remove an attraction from the park. However, it can still affect touring plans, particularly for guests accustomed to using the pathway to move quickly between Cars Land and Avengers Campus.
The work is part of the larger construction activity currently reshaping that portion of Disney California Adventure.
Several Disneyland Closures Are Now Overlapping
Taken together, Disneyland Resort is heading into August with a surprisingly long list of closures and operational changes.
Beginning in just a few days, Pixie Hollow will be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays through September 5.
Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition has been closed since July 6 without a reopening date. Silly Symphony Swings has been unavailable since April 27, and Chiller joined the closure list July 26.
Haunted Mansion will become the next major attraction to go offline when it closes on August 8, followed by Main Street Cinema on August 10.
For Haunted Mansion fans, at least the closure comes with a firm return date.
Guests have through August 7 to experience the traditional attraction. Haunted Mansion will then remain closed for nearly two weeks before reopening August 21 as Haunted Mansion Holiday.
By then, Disneyland’s transition from summer into Halloween will be well underway — and one of the park’s most famous mansions will look very different.
