HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter television series has now confirmed dozens of actors. John Lithgow (Albus Dumbledore), Nick Frost (Rubeus Hagrid), and Paapa Essiedu (Severus Snape) are just a few names among the growing lineup of cast members.
As for Hogwarts’ iconic trio, they’ll be played by Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton, who will play Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger, respectively, roles previously filled by Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson.
But there’s something very unusual about the new Miss Granger.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Stanton will also appear as the gifted Gryffindor student in the upcoming audiobook collection, Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions.
This makes her the second Wizarding World actor to play their character twice, following Tom Felton, who portrayed Draco Malfoy in the eight films and will return to the role in the Broadway version of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Stanton, currently best known for playing Matilda in the West End musical stage show of the same name, was cast earlier this year alongside McLaughlin and Stout.
Following the announcement, a clip of the young British actress auditioning for an unknown role went viral, with many fans praising her uncanny likeness to Hermione from the Harry Potter books, and to Emma Watson’s portrayal in the eight films.

Now, another clip is doing the rounds, but this time Stanton is in full Granger mode. The video, shared by Audible ahead of the release of the first installment in November, features Stanton uttering one of Hermione’s most iconic lines from Sorcerer’s Stone.
“It’s Levi-o-sa, not Levio-SA!” she says, before explaining how her parents broke the news to her that she’d also be donning the robes in the audiobook series.
“It was very funny ‘cuz I got back from school and my parents said, ‘Right, we need to have a talk to you about your behavior.’ And I was like, ‘What have I done wrong?’ I was so nervous that they were gonna tell me off and I’d be, like, suspended from school. And they were like, ‘Okay, so you’re going to be playing the part of Hermione Granger in the [Harry Potter] audio-series,” Stanton reveals in the video. “I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ I was so happy!”

“I think I talk quite like Hermione, and in audio you have to pronounce your words a lot,” Stanton says. “And so I think Hermione sort of over-does that because she talks very well.”
Frankie Treadway, Max Lester, and Arabella Stanton will play Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the first three audiobooks (Sorcerer’ Stone through Prisoner of Azkaban) — Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan, and Nina Barker-Francis will take on the roles starting with Goblet of Fire.
Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions also stars Hugh Laurie (House) as Albus Dumbledore and Matthew Macfadyen (Deadpool & Wolverine) as Lord Voldemort, a role yet to be filled by HBO for the live-action series.
