Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) has just celebrated its New York City premiere, having already rolled out the red carpet in London, U.K. (the world premiere) and Berlin, Germany.
The cast and crew were in attendance, including director Gareth Edwards (2014’s Godzilla) and actors Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Endgame) and Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), to name a few.
But forget genetically engineered dinosaurs — there were ones made out of state-of-the-art drones gracing the New York City skyline above Rockefeller Plaza on Monday, June 23. Watch the video from the official Jurassic World account on X (Twitter):

Anticipation for the seventh film in the long-running series is now at an all-time high, following 18 months since its announcement in January 2024. The new entry follows Johansson’s covert ops expert Zora Bennett who’s tasked with leading a high-stakes mission to an abandoned InGen facility, where her team comes face to face with mutant dinosaurs.
But now that the film has enjoyed a handful of high-profile premieres, what are critics saying about it?

Is Jurassic World Rebirth Getting Good Reviews?
If you wish to avoid spoilers (don’t worry — you’re safe here), then you might wish to only use your peripheral vision while browsing online until the film is out next week. But if you’ve already seen reviews pop up for Jurassic World Rebirth, then you’ll have probably gathered from soundbites and headlines alone that the consensus so far is somewhat mixed.
According to a recent article shared by Variety, early reviews from members of the film press fortunate to have been invited to the screenings range from “a string of forgettable scenes” to a “roaring triumph”. So it sounds like there are definitely some positive reviews, too, but we won’t to go into any detail because the film hasn’t been distributed by Universal Pictures yet.

But why might the film be getting mixed reviews from critics?
Well, the seventh film in any franchise is a huge gamble. Not only that, but the initial trailer that was released several months ago was widely considered disappointing by fans for having too much humor and not enough suspense. Despite boasting a stellar cast, the film’s characters also appear clichéd. Of course, here’s hoping none of this turns out to be the case.
The creatives, namely director Gareth Edwards and screenwriter David Koepp, who penned the first two films in the series, Jurassic Park (1993) and The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), have been adamant that Rebirth goes back to what made the original film so special, statements that have been completely at odds with everything we’ve seen in the marketing so far, from the aforementioned issues with the trailer to the mutant dinosaurs themselves.
Watch the official trailer for the film below:
Will Rebirth follow the three films in the Jurassic World trilogy and take a $1 billion+ bite out of the global box office? And how will it go down with general audiences? Come back for our spoiler-filled review next week after the film finally stomps into theaters on July 2.
Jurassic World Rebirth also stars Rupert Friend (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Mahershala Ali (The Green Book), Luna Blaise (Manifest), and Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs Lopez).
