Last week, a shocking weather event at Walt Disney World Resort left some guests with nearly no visibility throughout the Central Florida vacation destination’s roadways, theme parks, and Disney Resort hotels.
Walt Disney World Resort is known for all kinds of inclement weather, from summer thunderstorms to the floods that come with hurricane season. Last month, the Central Florida Disney parks experienced a historic cold front that brought freezing temperatures to the Sunshine State. Now, Disney Park guests are sharing photos of breathtaking fog at the Disney parks and Resort hotels.

Redditor u/TheLastGunslinger shared this photo of fog over a lake at Disney’s Riviera Resort, a Deluxe Disney Resort hotel:

u/javascap later shared a photo taken on the walking path from Disney’s Yacht Club Resort to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Normally, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror looms over the pathway.

“I took this picture today of the gorgeous view of Hollywood Studios famous landmark,” the Disney Park guest quipped. “What a way to start a day!”

Lastly, u/wild-manufacturer555 shared three photos of fog taking over the famous archway sign that welcomes guests onto Walt Disney World Resort property:

Other Disney Parks fans commented on their experiences with last week’s fog.
“I drove up the Florida Turnpike to WDW Friday morning from Miami,” u/quasmiofoo wrote. “Between Fort Pierce and Orlando it was foggy conditions that was so dense in some parts I couldn’t see the road 50 yards ahead of me.”

“We’re at Boardwalk right now and the first thing our daughter said was, ‘Oooo spooky!'” u/beer_before_friends replied.
Although fog can be eerily beautiful, it’s also dangerous. According to the Federal Highway Administration, “low visibility conditions cause increased speed variance, which increases crash risk.” Over 38,700 vehicle crashes occur in fog annually, killing more than 600 people and injuring at least 16,300.
