If you’re planning a vacation to Walt Disney World Resort in the near future, you should be aware of significant movements that will play a factor in your trip.

Visiting Walt Disney World Resort in the summer is an experience filled with vibrant energy and excitement. The park comes alive with a multitude of activities and attractions tailored for the season, from thrilling rides to spectacular parades and shows. There’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Summer also brings extended park hours, allowing guests to maximize their time and make the most of their visit. Additionally, seasonal events such as the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival offer unique culinary experiences and entertainment that add to the magic of a summer visit.

However, it’s important to be prepared for the summer heat and crowds. The Florida sun can be intense, so staying hydrated and taking breaks in air-conditioned areas or shaded spots is essential.

As the 4th of July is behind us, Disney World is just a few short weeks away from beginning its fall celebrations, as the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will begin on August 9. This means you’ll be seeing Halloween and fall-themed decorations begin arriving in Magic Kingdom Park real soon.

But let’s be real: It doesn’t feel like fall outside.

In the middle of July and even through August and September, there will be very few days in which the heat index isn’t near its peak. Orlando has been under a Heat Advisory for the last couple of weeks, and that will extend this week as the National Weather Service has issued a new proclamation.

The warning from the government-backed service shares that you can become seriously ill or even die if you don’t take proper precautions.

“A Heat Advisory is issued within 12 hours of the onset of extremely dangerous heat conditions,” the National Weather Service shares. “The general rule of thumb for this Advisory is when the maximum heat index temperature is expected to be 100° or higher for at least 2 days, and night time air temperatures will not drop below 75°; however, these criteria vary across the country, especially for areas that are not used to dangerous heat conditions. Take precautions to avoid heat illness. If you don’t take precautions, you may become seriously ill or even die.”

It’s not just the Heat Advisory — which Inside the Magic previously covered — for this week that you should be aware of, though. We fully expect that this advisory will continue to be in place for the foreseeable future, including the remainder of July, as well as August and September.

Even October and November can be filled with days that are near the top of the Heat Index, so it’s important to plan accordingly if you’re heading to “The Most Magical Place on Earth.”

Beating the heat at Disney World in the summer requires some strategic planning and smart choices to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable visit. One of the best ways to stay cool is by taking advantage of the park’s numerous indoor attractions and shows, which provide not only entertainment but also a welcome respite from the sun.

Attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion offer extended time in air-conditioned environments. Additionally, scheduling shows such as Mickey’s PhilharMagic during the hottest parts of the day can help keep you cool while still enjoying the magic of Disney.

Another effective way to beat the heat is by utilizing the many water attractions available throughout the parks. Splashing down on the newly-opened Tiana’s Bayou Adventure or taking a ride on Kali River Rapids can provide a refreshing break from the heat.

For a more immersive water experience, guests can visit Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, which is perfect for cooling off with their wave pool, lazy river, and exciting water slides. Staying hydrated is also crucial, so be sure to carry a refillable water bottle and take advantage of the numerous water fountains and quick-service locations offering free ice water.

Finally, consider planning your park visits early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are lower. Disney often extends park hours during the summer, allowing for nighttime fun when the weather is cooler. Utilizing Extended Evening Hours (for select Disney Resort guests) or staying in a Disney Resort can also provide additional opportunities to enjoy the parks during these cooler times.
