Safety Crew Called In During Disneyland Ride Emergency

One of the best rides at Disneyland closed abruptly, leaving guests hanging.

The Disneyland Resort features two amazing theme parks as well as a huge district dedicated to shopping and dining. The original Disneyland Park has all of your favorite classic and iconic Disney attractions, like Alice in Wonderland, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Space Mountain, and “it’s a small world.” Disney California Adventure focuses more on thrills, featuring more technologically advanced experiences like Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! and the Incredicoaster.

Ride stoppages are just a part of life when it comes to theme parks, whether they’re by accident or on purpose. Most of the time, rides will stop briefly to accommodate a guest and then promptly start back up again. Sometimes, there’s a mechanical or technical issue that can stop a ride or attraction for an extended period of time. However, sometimes thrill rides need to come to a complete stop, and guests must evacuate the attraction entirely, which is exactly what happened over at Radiator Springs Racers.

Radiator Springs Racers can be found in Disney California Adventure and is by far one of the most popular and beloved rides at the entire resort, blending beautiful theming with a stellar on-ride experience. Unfortunately, this ride came to an abrupt halt over the holiday weekend, leaving guests stuck (literally). As guests came around one of the banked turns, the attraction shut down, leaving them titled at quite an angle.

“We were at CA on Saturday 12/23 and after finally reaching the front of the queue (and boarding our cars) everything did a hard shutdown.” The guest goes on to explain the situation further. “I’ve never seen this, but all employees in the loading queue area ran into a back room together. Out came several engineers with toolboxes, who proceeded to walk the track and evac riders.

Disney offers guests affected by ride or attraction evacuation passes that they can use to bypass standby lines later in the day. While this does not entirely make up for the loss of time, it’s still a great way for Disney to attempt to make up for the lackluster experience. You can see a whole crew of Disneyland cast members approach the car and assist the guests in exiting the ride vehicles.

As we stated earlier, Radiator Springs Racers is one of the best rides at the Disneyland Resort. It blends themed landscapes with an exhilarating experience, all of which are inspired by Disney Pixar’s Cars franchise. The ride is very similar to Test Track at EPCOT in Walt Disney World, though we much prefer Radiator Springs Racers due to its incredible theming.
