Walt Disney World is bringing back a familiar reservation system this November, and guests planning to enjoy one of the resort’s most popular seasonal experiences will need to prepare ahead of time.

As Disney World transitions into the holiday season, visitors can expect festive decorations, special entertainment, and beloved traditions to return throughout the resort.

However, not every holiday experience will allow guests to simply walk up and wait their turn.

Disney has confirmed that a virtual queue system will return beginning November 11, requiring visitors to secure a spot through their phones before participating.

And with no traditional standby line available, families hoping to enjoy this seasonal favorite will need to understand the rules before arriving.

Disney World Brings Back Virtual Queue November 11

Beginning November 11, 2026, Walt Disney World will officially welcome Santa Claus back to Disney Springs, giving families another opportunity to meet the man in red before Christmas.

However, guests won’t be able to simply walk up and join a traditional line.

Instead, Disney will require visitors to enter a virtual queue through the My Disney Experience app before meeting Santa at his seasonal location.

Santa will greet guests at Santa’s Marketplace, located near Disney’s Pin Traders in the Marketplace section of Disney Springs.

The experience will remain available through December 24, giving families several weeks to participate before Christmas Day.

Disney has used virtual queues for its Santa meet-and-greet experience since at least 2021, helping manage crowds during one of the busiest shopping and entertainment periods of the year.

Although the system eliminates the need to stand in a lengthy physical line, it also introduces an important restriction.

Guests who fail to secure a virtual queue spot won’t have the option of joining a regular standby line instead.

That means families hoping to meet Santa should plan their visit carefully, particularly as Christmas approaches and demand potentially increases.

Five Daily Opportunities to Join the Virtual Queue

Fortunately, Disney isn’t limiting guests to a single opportunity to secure their place.

Throughout the holiday season, visitors will have five daily chances to enter the virtual queue using the My Disney Experience app.

The enrollment windows will open at:

  • 9:00 a.m.
  • 11:00 a.m.
  • 1:00 p.m.
  • 3:00 p.m.
  • 5:00 p.m.

However, availability isn’t guaranteed, and spots could fill before every interested guest successfully joins.

Disney also requires guests to be physically present at Disney Springs when entering the virtual queue.

Unlike certain theme park reservation systems that allow eligible guests to join from their hotel rooms, this experience requires visitors to arrive at the shopping and entertainment district first.

One person can register an entire party of up to 10 guests, making the process easier for families traveling together.

Once successfully enrolled, visitors can continue exploring Disney Springs while waiting for their return notification.

When their group is ready, the person who joined the queue will receive a push notification containing access to a digital entry code.

Guests must then return to Santa’s Marketplace to participate.

Anyone who accidentally dismisses their notification can retrieve the entry code by opening the three-line menu in My Disney Experience and selecting “Virtual Queues.”

Disney Adds Another Holiday Surprise for Families

While meeting Santa is already a popular Christmas tradition, Disney is adding another festive touch to this year’s experience.

Santa’s Marketplace will feature fresh milk and cookies, with Dairy Does More hosting the seasonal location.

The experience welcomes guests of all ages, meaning adults can participate alongside younger visitors.

For families with children, the addition creates an opportunity to enjoy a traditional holiday treat while visiting Santa.

Disney Springs will also offer another Christmas activity for children who want to share their holiday wishes.

At Once Upon a Toy, young visitors can write letters to Santa and mail them directly to the North Pole.

That gives families another seasonal activity to enjoy, particularly if they cannot secure a virtual queue spot or want to spend additional time celebrating Christmas.

And Santa’s return is only part of the holiday entertainment arriving at Disney Springs.

More Christmas Experiences Arrive November 11

Disney Springs will also welcome back its popular Christmas Tree Stroll beginning November 11, with the seasonal experience continuing through January 3, 2027.

The returning tradition invites visitors to explore elaborately decorated Christmas trees inspired by Disney characters, stories, and other holiday favorites.

This year’s lineup will include new trees themed to Bluey, Monsters, Inc. (2001), and Hallmark.

Visitors can also explore a Hallmark pop-up shop offering seasonal merchandise, ornaments, and holiday gifts.

Unlike the Santa meet-and-greet, the Christmas Tree Stroll gives guests another way to enjoy the holiday atmosphere without needing to secure a spot in Santa’s virtual queue.

With shopping, decorations, seasonal treats, and entertainment throughout the district, Disney Springs will offer several ways to celebrate Christmas outside the four theme parks.

However, guests specifically hoping to meet Santa should remember that his experience operates differently.

What Disney World Guests Should Know Before November 11

For families planning a holiday visit, the biggest takeaway is simple: meeting Santa at Disney Springs requires advance planning on the day of the visit.

Guests should download or update the My Disney Experience app before arriving, enable notifications, and make sure they understand how the virtual queue works.

Arriving before a scheduled enrollment window could also help visitors avoid missing their preferred opportunity.

Still, Disney makes it clear that virtual queue availability is limited, and joining isn’t guaranteed.

The return of the system also serves as a reminder that Disney World continues using virtual queues for certain special experiences, even as guests have become accustomed to different systems across the theme parks.

For families hoping to make Santa part of their holiday traditions, November 11 marks the beginning of another opportunity to celebrate Christmas at Disney Springs.

Just don’t expect to walk straight into Santa’s Marketplace without securing a spot first.
