The 2026 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival will be in full swing, bringing plenty of food and drinks around World Showcase and other areas of the park. At the same time, runDisney will affect the park schedule later in the month, while Disney will introduce a new way to pair dinner with EPCOT’s nighttime spectacular.
Some guests will also receive additional time inside the park after most visitors have headed for the exits.
None of these changes should completely derail an EPCOT day, but a couple could have a noticeable impact on vacation plans. That is especially true for guests visiting on two specific October dates when the park will open later than normal.
If EPCOT is part of your Walt Disney World vacation next month, here are four changes you’ll want to know about before arriving.
Four More Food & Wine Festival Booths Are Opening
The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is already underway, but Disney still has more food coming in October.
Four festival booths will officially begin serving guests on October 2. Those locations are Coastal Eats, Earth Eats, The Alps, and India. Once they open, all four will remain available through the end of the festival.
That makes October 2 an important date for anyone who wants to experience as much of this year’s festival lineup as possible.
Guests visiting before then won’t have access to the complete booth selection. Anyone arriving on or after October 2 will have four additional locations to work into their plans.
That may not sound like a major operational change, but Food & Wine Festival booths can take up a surprising amount of time during an EPCOT day. Guests who want to try several locations may want to plan their route rather than repeatedly walking from one side of World Showcase to the other.
The additional openings could also give returning visitors something different to try if they already visited the festival earlier in its run.
With Coastal Eats, Earth Eats, The Alps, and India all joining the lineup on the same day, October will finally bring the remaining festival booths into operation.
However, food isn’t the only reason October 2 stands out on EPCOT’s calendar.
A New Fireworks Dining Package Begins October 2
Guests looking for a different way to experience EPCOT’s nighttime spectacular will have another option beginning October 2.
Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya in the Japan Pavilion will begin offering its fireworks dining package on that date.
The package combines a meal at the restaurant with a view of Luminous The Symphony of Us, giving guests a way to turn dinner and the nighttime show into one experience.
The meal includes an appetizer, traditional sashimi, a sushi selection, beverages, and an exclusive dessert available with the package.
Of course, this is a premium experience.
The package costs $120 per adult before tax and gratuity. With those additional charges included, the total reaches $149.50 per adult.
Children cost $60 before tax and gratuity, bringing the final listed total to $74.70 per child.
For a family, that can quickly become a significant addition to an already expensive EPCOT day. Still, the package may appeal to guests who were already planning a table-service dinner and want to combine it with their nighttime entertainment plans.
It could also remove some of the uncertainty that comes with finding a preferred fireworks viewing location later in the evening.
Luminous The Symphony of Us generally begins at 9 p.m., although Disney can adjust the showtime during busier periods. Guests booking the dining package should check the nighttime spectacular schedule when making their reservation and confirm it again closer to their trip.
Reservations for the Shiki-Sai package are already open.
While October 2 brings additions to EPCOT, two dates later in the month will bring a very different kind of change.
EPCOT Will Open Later on Two October Mornings
This is probably the biggest schedule change October visitors need to know about.
EPCOT will have a delayed opening twice during the month because of the runDisney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend.
On Friday, October 23, and Sunday, October 25, EPCOT will not follow its usual morning schedule.
Instead of opening at 9 a.m., the park will open at 10 a.m. Early Entry will also move back one hour, beginning at 9:30 a.m. instead of 8:30 a.m.
That one-hour difference could matter considerably for guests who build their Disney World days around arriving as early as possible.
A normal Early Entry morning can give eligible Disney Resort hotel guests a chance to get ahead of some of the day’s crowds. On these two dates, that entire schedule shifts.
The reason is runDisney.
The 5K takes place Friday, October 23, while the Half Marathon takes place Sunday, October 25. Those events will affect EPCOT’s opening schedule and could contribute to heavier crowd conditions around the park.
Anyone visiting on either date should double-check operating hours instead of relying on the schedule they may normally associate with EPCOT.
This could be particularly important for guests with dining reservations, transportation plans, or a strategy built around arriving before the regular park opening.
If you aren’t committed to visiting EPCOT on October 23 or October 25, the delayed start may also be worth considering when deciding which park to visit each day of your vacation.
For some guests, losing an hour in the morning won’t make much difference. For others, especially those who prefer getting several attractions done early, it could change how the entire day feels.
Fortunately, another October schedule update gives certain guests more park time rather than less.
Extended Evening Hours Continue at EPCOT
While two mornings will begin later, select guests will get three opportunities to stay inside EPCOT after its regular operating day ends.
Extended Evening Hours are scheduled for Monday, October 5, Monday, October 12, and Monday, October 19.
On each of those evenings, the benefit will run from 9 p.m. until 11 p.m. for eligible guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resorts and other qualifying hotels.
Those extra two hours can offer a very different EPCOT experience.
Once the regular operating day ends and many daytime visitors leave, eligible guests can continue experiencing select attractions with lower crowds and potentially shorter waits.
The October attraction lineup includes Frozen Ever After, Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, Mission: SPACE, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Soarin’ Around the World, Spaceship Earth, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, and Test Track.
That gives eligible guests several major attractions to choose from during the two-hour period.
Rather than trying to squeeze every major ride into the daytime portion of a visit, guests staying for Extended Evening Hours may be able to save certain attractions for later.
The benefit could become especially useful during the Food & Wine Festival, when guests may want to spend more of the afternoon and evening exploring festival booths instead of moving from ride to ride.
Of course, Extended Evening Hours aren’t available to everyone. Guests need to meet Disney’s eligibility requirements, so visitors should confirm that their hotel qualifies before building their EPCOT plans around the additional time.
October Could Require Some Extra EPCOT Planning
None of these October changes mean guests should avoid EPCOT. In fact, several of them add more to experience.
Food & Wine Festival visitors will gain four additional booths beginning October 2, while Shiki-Sai will introduce a new option for guests interested in combining dinner with Luminous The Symphony of Us.
Eligible Deluxe Resort guests will also have three nights of Extended Evening Hours during the month.
The biggest potential complication comes later in October.
Anyone visiting EPCOT on October 23 or October 25 needs to remember that the park’s morning schedule will shift by an hour. Arriving expecting the usual 8:30 a.m. Early Entry or 9 a.m. regular opening could leave guests waiting much longer than expected.
With the Food & Wine Festival underway, runDisney events affecting operations, a new fireworks dining package starting, and extra nighttime hours available on select dates, October won’t look exactly like a typical month at EPCOT.
A little advance planning should go a long way.
For guests already counting down to an October Walt Disney World vacation, checking the exact date of their EPCOT visit could be just as important as deciding which attractions and festival booths make the must-do list.
