Credit: Inside the MagicWalt Disney World Resort has once again extended the construction walls at the entrance to Magic Kingdom Park. Here’s what to know before your next visit to the original Central Florida Disney park.
Construction Outside Magic Kingdom Park
Last week, green construction walls first appeared along the Seven Seas Lagoon at the entrance to Magic Kingdom Park. The plywood barriers line the walkway where guests line up for ferryboat transportation to the Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC), the only guest parking area for the Magic Kingdom.
The construction walls are among the first visible signs of a project Walt Disney World Resort first announced in early 2026. In March, Florida’s water management district approved Disney’s plans to build a new ferryboat dock at Magic Kingdom Park, increasing capacity for guests traveling between the original Central Florida Disney park and the TTC.
Simultaneously, Disney is adding a fourth ferryboat to its fleet that sails the Seven Seas Lagoon: the Meg Gilbert Crofton. Named after the fourth president of Walt Disney World Resort, this watercraft will join the Admiral Joe Fowler, the General Joe Potter, and the Richard F. Irvine sometime in 2027.
Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t announced a grand opening date for the new ferryboat dock at Magic Kingdom Park, but it will likely debut around the same time as the new addition to the fleet. Construction is also underway nearby on a floodplain compensation area associated with the development of the new dock.
Barriers Extended This Week
On July 27, WDWNT reported that the construction walls at the entrance to Magic Kingdom Park had been extended. Temporary fencing guides guests around the walls as they line up for ferryboat transportation to the Transportation & Ticket Center.
Work is still not visible behind the plywood barriers, but some concrete blocks and other construction equipment were observed in the area. Disney has not said when it will begin building the new ferryboat dock.
Ferryboat transportation between Magic Kingdom Park and the Transportation & Ticket Center continues despite the ongoing dock construction. Monorail service is also available to the TTC.
