Disneyland Resort is heading into a stretch where a surprising number of attractions and experiences are either running on reduced hours or closing outright, and some of these overlap with each other in ways that could genuinely change how your day unfolds. A couple of these changes are routine seasonal adjustments that happen every year around this time. Others are longer closures without a confirmed return date yet. Whether you’re a first time visitor or someone who’s been to Disneyland a dozen times, here’s a full breakdown of what’s changing across both parks, and how to plan around it.
Sailing Ship Columbia and the Canoes Are on Weekend Only Hours
Let’s start with the more temporary of the changes. The Sailing Ship Columbia and Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes are both currently operating on a limited schedule at Disneyland Park. This kind of seasonal reduction isn’t unusual during slower periods of the year, and it isn’t sticking around long.
Sailing Ship Columbia is open from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays only, and it’s set to return to daily operations on August 15. Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes runs Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., resuming its normal daily schedule one day earlier, on August 14. As always, both attractions remain weather dependent, so even the posted hours can shift depending on conditions that day.
If your trip falls before those mid-August dates and you’re hoping to paddle around the Rivers of America or take a ride on the Columbia, plan your visit around a weekend, or shift your expectations if you’re only able to visit on a weekday.
Haunted Mansion’s Classic Version Is Closing Soon
The bigger news for Disneyland fans this month involves Haunted Mansion. The attraction will officially close on August 8, 2026, and remain unavailable through August 20. Guests have through Friday, August 7, to ride the traditional version of the attraction before the closure begins.
This closure exists for a good reason. Disneyland uses this window every year to transform the ride into Haunted Mansion Holiday, the seasonal overlay inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). Once the work is finished, Haunted Mansion Holiday opens August 21, right as Disneyland Resort kicks off its Halloween Time celebrations for the season.
None of this comes as a surprise, since the transformation happens annually and takes real time to install properly. Still, it’s one more thing guests need to factor into their plans if they’re visiting during this particular window in August, especially if riding the classic version of Haunted Mansion specifically matters to you.
Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition Has No Return Date Yet
Not every closure at Disneyland comes with a clear timeline. Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition has been closed since July 6, 2026, and Disneyland currently lists it as closed with a reopening date still to be determined.
This attraction offers something a little different from most of what Disneyland has to offer, since guests aim at interactive targets throughout an Old West themed shooting gallery rather than boarding a ride vehicle. It’s a nostalgic favorite for a lot of longtime visitors, which makes the open ended nature of this closure a bit more noticeable. For now, it’s safer to plan a Disneyland trip assuming this one won’t be available, unless Disney provides an update closer to your travel dates.
Main Street Cinema Joins the List Right After Haunted Mansion
Just two days after Haunted Mansion closes, Main Street Cinema will follow. That closure begins August 10 and is scheduled to run through August 27, 2026, with the location expected to reopen August 28.
This creates a stretch in the middle of August where both Haunted Mansion and Main Street Cinema will be closed at the same time. Compared to the other closures on this list, Main Street Cinema’s timeline is relatively short, but guests visiting Disneyland Park during that specific window will still run into multiple unavailable experiences in the same trip.
Disney California Adventure Has Its Own List of Closures
The closures aren’t limited to Disneyland Park. Over at Disney California Adventure, Silly Symphony Swings has been closed since April 27, 2026, without any announced reopening date, making it one of the longer running closures currently affecting Disneyland Resort.
More recently, Chiller at Paradise Gardens Park became unavailable starting July 26, also without a confirmed return date. Between these two, guests spending time at Disney California Adventure should expect at least a couple of unavailable attractions depending on when they visit, in addition to whatever’s happening across the esplanade at Disneyland Park.
Avengers Campus Construction Is Changing How Guests Get Around
One more change at Disney California Adventure is worth knowing about, even though it isn’t a ride closure. The walkway connecting Avengers Campus and Cars Land is currently closed due to ongoing construction tied to the larger Avengers Campus expansion.
Guests can still travel between the two areas, but they’ll need to use an alternate route, including the Performance Corridor. This isn’t going to remove access to either land, but it can slow down touring plans for guests who are used to moving quickly between Cars Land and Avengers Campus, especially during busier hours when foot traffic in the alternate routes picks up.
Pixie Hollow and Tinker Bell Round Out the Changes
Disneyland has also made adjustments involving Tinker Bell and Pixie Hollow recently. While Pixie Hollow remains part of Disneyland Park, it’s now operating on a limited schedule, closing on Tuesdays and Thursdays through September 5, 2026. That change follows a separate announcement regarding a Tinker Bell removal that began the week prior, adding yet another shift to the growing list of adjustments guests need to track this summer.
Putting It All Together for Your Next Trip
Stacked up together, this is a genuinely long list of closures and schedule changes heading into August. Pixie Hollow’s reduced schedule begins within days, Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition has been closed since early July without a return date, Silly Symphony Swings has been down since late April, and Chiller joined the list in late July. Haunted Mansion goes offline August 8, followed by Main Street Cinema on August 10, meaning both will be closed simultaneously for a stretch in the middle of the month.
The good news, if there is one, is that Haunted Mansion at least comes with a confirmed return date. Guests have through August 7 to catch the traditional version, and the attraction will be back on August 21 as Haunted Mansion Holiday, right in time for Halloween Time.
