The most recent construction update from Walt Disney World Resort reveals that the project’s footprint has expanded, taking up more of the walkway into the original Central Florida Disney park. Here’s what guests need to know before heading to the Most Magical Place on Earth.
Ferryboat Dock Construction Expands Outside Magic Kingdom Park
Walt Disney World Resort first filed to build a new ferryboat dock at Magic Kingdom Park in early 2026. Then, the Central Florida Disney park revealed that it would add a fourth ferryboat to its fleet that sails the Seven Seas Lagoon: the Meg Gilbert Crofton. The new watercraft will join the fleet sometime in 2027, expanding transportation capacity between the Magic Kingdom and the Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC).
Disney began construction outside Magic Kingdom Park in June, clearing land and performing floodplain compensation work along the shore of the Seven Seas Lagoon. That construction aligned with permits previously filed by Walt Disney World Resort for the new ferryboat dock project, which were approved by the local water management district in March.
On July 22, BlogMickey reported that green construction walls now enclose the South end of the future site of a new ferryboat dock outside Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort. The new barriers line a walkway to and from the Magic Kingdom alongside the Seven Seas Lagoon. The outlet shared this photo on social media:
The construction walls are directly in the path of stanchions and ropes where guests line up for the ferryboat to the Transportation & Ticket Center from Magic Kingdom Park. The barriers wrap around the corner, but guests can see concrete blocks and other construction materials behind the walls from the ferryboat loading platform.
Although the Meg Gilbert Crofton ferryboat is expected to debut in 2027, Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t specified when the new dock at Magic Kingdom Park will open. Despite the ongoing construction, Central Florida Disney Park guests can continue to ride the ferryboat between the Transportation & Ticket Center and the Magic Kingdom. Monorail transportation is also available.
