Getting turned away from Magic Kingdom is nothing new during the busiest days of the year. That being said, getting turned away from a Disney event is still a pretty rare thing, especially when the event already costs nearly $200 per person.
Most nights, guests willing to pay premium prices can still usually find a way into whatever Disney is offering. But tonight at Magic Kingdom, that is no longer the case.

Disney’s After Hours event for May 18 has officially sold out, meaning guests can no longer purchase tickets for the limited-capacity nighttime experience. That makes it just the third Magic Kingdom After Hours event to fully sell out during the 2026 season so far.
And honestly, it says a lot about how valuable low-crowd experiences have become at Walt Disney World.
Disney After Hours Continues To Grow in Popularity
Disney After Hours events have slowly transformed from a niche offering into one of the most desirable add-ons at Walt Disney World. For many guests, the appeal is easy to understand.
Instead of battling heavy daytime crowds, After Hours guests enter a much calmer version of Magic Kingdom. The event officially runs from 10 p.m. until 1 a.m., giving visitors access to attractions with dramatically reduced wait times. Complimentary snacks and beverages are included, and guests also get to experience nighttime entertainment like Disney Enchantment in a much less crowded environment.
That experience comes at a steep price, though.
Tickets currently range from $175 to $199 per person. Even with those premium costs, Disney is still seeing select nights disappear completely.
The fact that tonight’s event sold out means Disney has now hit capacity for three separate Magic Kingdom After Hours nights this season. The January 12 and March 9 events also sold out earlier this year.
For perspective, several other dates have not sold out, which makes these sellouts stand out even more.
Guests Are Paying More for Lower Crowds
One of the biggest shifts happening at Walt Disney World right now involves how guests approach crowd levels.
For years, families focused primarily on saving money when planning Disney vacations. Now, more guests seem willing to pay significantly more if it means avoiding long lines and packed walkways.
That trend has become especially noticeable inside Magic Kingdom.
Between new entertainment offerings, changing ride line strategies, and major park construction projects moving forward, many visitors are looking for ways to experience the park with less stress. After Hours events offer exactly that. Guests can often ride major attractions multiple times in a single night without spending hours standing in line.
That kind of experience has become increasingly valuable as daytime crowds continue fluctuating throughout the year.
The interesting part is that these After Hours events are not cheap upgrades added onto an existing ticket. Many guests attending are purchasing separate admission specifically for the event itself. Yet Disney is still reaching sellout territory on select nights.
That says a lot about how strong demand remains for premium Magic Kingdom experiences.

Magic Kingdom’s Big Changes Could Fuel Even More Demand
There may also be another factor quietly helping these events grow.
Magic Kingdom is in the middle of one of the most dramatic transformation periods in park history. Frontierland continues changing rapidly following the removal of Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat. Major expansion work tied to future additions like Villains Land and Piston Peak National Park is moving forward behind the scenes.
At the same time, Disney continues adding new offerings across Walt Disney World that are pulling heavy guest interest throughout 2026.
Many visitors may now view limited-capacity events like After Hours as one of the best opportunities to enjoy Magic Kingdom before even larger crowds arrive later in the decade.
Disney also benefits from the exclusivity factor. Once these events sell out, that is it. Even guests willing to pay full price cannot buy their way in afterward.
Tonight’s sellout proves that reality again.
Several 2026 Dates Still Remain
Despite tonight reaching capacity, Disney still has several remaining Magic Kingdom After Hours dates available later this season.
According to the current schedule, these dates remain open:
- May 25
- June 1
- June 22
- June 29
- July 13
- July 27
Whether those dates eventually sell out may depend heavily on summer crowd levels, attraction demand, and how many guests continue prioritizing lower waits over lower prices. We’d imagine that several of those summer dates might become very popular for some guests who want to beat the summer heat and have a couple of hours in Magic Kingdom with low wait times.
Either way, Disney is clearly proving something important right now.
Even at nearly $200 per ticket, Magic Kingdom still has nights where demand becomes so high that paying guests simply cannot get in anymore.
