When it comes to immersing fans, it’s fair to say that Jurassic Park spares no expense.

Since its inception in 1993, the Jurassic Park franchise — later rebranded into Jurassic World with the 2015 blockbuster of the same name — has consistently invited audiences to experience the wonder and terror of genetically engineered dinosaurs in thrilling new ways.

There’s the ongoing film series, Universal Studios’ themed areas and attractions, Netflix’s animated shows, park-management video games, and much more.

And now, a new experience that includes a hotel for fans to explore is in development.

A New Jurassic Park Experience Is Coming

That experience is the first-person action-adventure Jurassic Park: Survival, developed by Saber Interactive. Set just 24 hours after Steven Spielberg’s 1993 film, it follows Dr. Maya Joshi, an InGen scientist who failed to evacuate and must use her intelligence and all the available resources to outlast some of the deadliest predators to have ever walked the planet.

The project was first revealed at the Game Awards in December 2023 with a cinematic trailer that promises an immersive return to the world of the original film, post-dinosaur breakout:

While the game isn’t a traditional open-world experience, players can still expect to explore a living, breathing re-creation of Isla Nublar for the first time in the franchise’s history.

In June 2024, during an internal Jurassic Park: Survival Q&A conducted with Universal Products & Experiences executive producer John Melchior and Saber Interactive creative director Oliver Hollis-Leick (via IGN), some interesting details for the game came to light.

“We have been working with all our stakeholders on what the island [Isla Nublar] would have looked like after the events of the film [Jurassic Park],” Melchior said. “This includes areas we all love like the Visitor’s Center and the T-Rex paddock.”

However, while the game will revisit several familiar areas, its “fully realized Isla Nublar” (per the official website) means that it will also feature several never-before-seen locations.

Such areas are teased by a projector in the background in the original 1993 film during the dinner table scene. But there’s even more territory in the original 1990 best-selling novel by Michael Crichton that remains uncharted on the screen.

Unnamed Jurassic Park Hotel Confirmed

Among those is the island’s hotel, which Melchior alluded to, saying, “But also, what we didn’t see, things that were not part of the tour or got cut off by the storm. Those on the island were supposed to be there overnight, so what does that mean?”

He continued: “What would they have seen and where would they have stayed if everything went according to plan? That is where we are starting. One thing is certain — the island is as much a part of the story as the characters and dinosaurs.”

While Melchior kept details close to his chest, more information about the hotel came to light last year.

In summer 2025, a behind-the-scenes featurette with Universal and Saber dived even deeper into what the game will offer, showcasing its lead character, the dinosaur models, and even more locations from the 1993 film like the Visitor Center’s rotating movie theater and its maze-like kitchen, and the jungles. And Melchior revisited the mysterious, unnamed hotel.

“There’s lots of facilities, there’s lots of buildings, there’s lots of attractions that are under construction, there’s a hotel under construction,” he says in the video.

Concept art also revealed in the video shows a sprawling resort hotel bordered by misty jungle and complete with a small lake. It’s seemingly accessible by some sort of train car that must pass through Jurassic Park gates similar to the main ones that grant access to the park.

Smaller buildings — presumably external lodges that form part of the resort — surrounding the main building can also be seen. Whether or not this hotel is the Safari Lodge from Crichton’s book, however, is unclear.

While the Safari Lodge doesn’t appear in the 1993 film, the book spends a fair amount of time there. First, during the early parts of the story when everything is seemingly going well for the guests’ ill-fated tour of the park, and towards the end, when an injured Ian Malcolm is hiding from raptors that are trying to break into one of the rooms through the skylight.

There’s another hotel in the novel called the Pteratops Lodge, but it’s revealed that the pterosaurs in the aviary–where the building is inexplicably located–had been causing problems for construction workers, which stalled its development.

Can Guests Spend the Night?

Whether Dr. Maya Joshi will be able to “spend the night” in the unnamed and incomplete hotel in the game remains to be seen — although it could mean encountering dinosaurs like Velociraptor and Dilophosaurus in its dark hallways. The game will also feature species such as T. rex, Gallimimus, Brachiosaurus, Triceratops, and mysterious “special dinosaurs”.

Either way, the hotel will likely serve as one of many save points on the island, and you’ll no doubt get to explore the complex, as the BTS video confirms that no stone is being left unturned in recreating Isla Nublar and the park in a virtual setting.

“It’s really exciting to be able to translate this incredible film into a video game because you really have the opportunity to go much deeper into the film,” Jurassic World Project Executive Lisa St Amand explains in the video. “We worked really closely with our partners and with Amblin and our filmmakers to make sure that we’re capturing the island and all the dinosaurs in really great detail.”
