New 'Jurassic Park' Sequel Will "Go Much Deeper" Into 1993 Film

Now that Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) is in the rearview mirror (no pun intended), having recently ended its box office run and hit streaming, Jurassic fans can finally start getting excited about a new installment that was announced before the latest film in the series.

First revealed during the Game Awards in December 2023, “Jurassic Park: Survival” is a first-person action-adventure video game that’s set 24 hours after the events of the first film.

Players will assume the role of a new character named Dr. Maya Joshi (played by Payal Mistry), an InGen scientist brought in by Dr. Henry Wu, who was unable to evacuate with the rest of the crew when the storm hit Isla Nublar and dinosaurs escaped their enclosures.

Now, Joshi must use stealth, intelligence, ingenuity, and all the resources available to her to survive a “fully realized” Isla Nublar, its deadly prehistoric inhabitants, and “other surprising threats” (per the official website).

That trailer was all Jurassic fans had for 18 months (although there was an IGN exclusive last summer, but since then, nothing). Now, Universal and Saber Interactive have unveiled a behind-the-scenes featurette that showcases what the developers are building.

Isla Nublar is being built from the ground up, the dinosaurs look like they’ve been plucked right from the 1993 film (although there will be more species in the game), and locations that include the familiar Visitor Center and never-before-seen areas only hinted at on screen, will immerse players in the instantly iconic world imagined 32 years ago.

In the new video, Jurassic World Project Executive Lisa St. Amand promises that “Jurassic Park: Survival” will “go much deeper” into the 1993 film.

“It’s really exciting to be able to translate this incredible film into a video game because you really have the opportunity to go much deeper into the film,” she says. “We worked really closely with our partners with Amblin and our filmmakers to make sure that we’re capturing the island and all the dinosaurs in really great detail.”

Though it’s set 24 hours later, players can expect to discover familiar areas and dinosaurs — and possibly characters, too — but also uncover other corners of the island they’ve only dreamed of seeing for over three decades.

There’s no release date for the game yet; however, the new BTS video certainly promises that the next chapter in the Jurassic Park franchise will be worth the wait. Not only that, but it looks like it has been spared no expense.
