Dining is a huge part of the Walt Disney World experience, even though many visitors initially focus on attractions and shows when planning their trips. From elaborate character meals to elegant table-service restaurants and quick bites between rides, food has become a major component of what makes a Disney vacation memorable.

Over the years, Disney has dramatically expanded the types of dining experiences available across its four theme parks and resort hotels. Guests can enjoy everything from immersive themed restaurants to waterfront cafés with relaxing views. And for many fans, securing a reservation at the right place can become just as exciting as scoring a Lightning Lane for a popular ride.

One location that has generated a lot of conversation recently sits just outside the parks at Disney’s BoardWalk. Since opening in 2024, The Cake Bake Shop has become one of the most talked-about dining destinations at Walt Disney World. While the restaurant initially drew attention because of its elegant décor and upscale menu prices, many guests who have visited say the atmosphere and food quality make the experience worth it.

Now, the popular venue is making a change that could make planning a visit even easier for guests staying at nearby resorts—or those heading into EPCOT for the day.

A Dining Experience That Stands Out at Disney World

The Cake Bake Shop occupies the former ESPN Club location along the BoardWalk promenade. The transformation of the space created an eye-catching restaurant that blends whimsical design with a luxurious feel.

Disney describes the location as a place where guests can enjoy a wide range of meals throughout the day, including breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, desserts, and cocktails. The setting overlooks Crescent Lake, giving diners a relaxing view while they enjoy their meal.

That flexibility has helped make the restaurant popular with several different types of visitors. Some families stop by for breakfast before heading into EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Others arrive later in the afternoon for tea or desserts after a long park day. And in the evenings, the restaurant becomes more of a date-night destination with its upscale dinner menu.

Despite the initial chatter surrounding the higher price points when the restaurant first opened, reviews have largely been positive. Many guests say the service, atmosphere, and presentation of the food make the experience feel unique compared to many other dining options around Walt Disney World.

Breakfast Hours Are Getting an Extension

One of the biggest changes coming to the restaurant involves the breakfast service window.

Currently, breakfast at The Cake Bake Shop is served from 7:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. each day, with the lunch menu beginning shortly afterward.

Starting March 11, 2026, those hours will shift slightly. Instead of wrapping up breakfast service at 10:30 a.m., the restaurant will continue serving breakfast items until 11:30 a.m.

It may seem like a small adjustment on paper, but an extra hour can make a meaningful difference for guests who prefer a slower start to their day. Disney vacations can be exhausting, and not everyone wants to wake up early every morning.

With the updated schedule, guests staying at nearby resorts like Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Yacht Club Resort, or Beach Club Resort now have more flexibility if they want to enjoy breakfast before heading into the parks.

It also creates an easier option for visitors who might be finishing up a morning ride session at EPCOT and want to step out for a meal before lunchtime crowds begin to build.

Special Brunch Opportunities During Holidays

In addition to extending the daily breakfast hours, the restaurant will also offer a special brunch window during select holiday weekends.

For Easter and Mother’s Day, brunch will be served from 7:00 a.m. all the way until 2:00 p.m.

That extended timeframe opens up more opportunities for families celebrating those holidays during a Disney vacation. Brunch has become increasingly popular at Walt Disney World in recent years, particularly at locations that provide a relaxed atmosphere compared to the fast-paced environment inside the parks.

Holiday brunches also tend to feature seasonal menu items and special touches that aren’t available during the rest of the year. For many guests, these types of experiences become traditions that they return to whenever they visit during those specific holidays.

Why Dining Reservations Still Matter

Even with expanded hours, getting a table at popular Disney restaurants still requires a bit of planning.

Guests have two main ways to secure a reservation at The Cake Bake Shop. The first is through Disney’s standard Advanced Dining Reservation system, which can be accessed through the Walt Disney World website or the My Disney Experience app.

The second option is booking through OpenTable, which the restaurant also supports.

Having two booking platforms available gives guests additional flexibility, particularly if reservations appear unavailable on one system but open up on the other.

Dining reservations remain one of the most important parts of planning a Disney trip. Popular restaurants across the resort—especially those offering character meals or unique theming—can fill up quickly once reservations become available.

Because of that, experienced Disney travelers often set reminders to check availability right when booking windows open.

A Growing Food Scene Around Crescent Lake

The Cake Bake Shop is just one example of how the Crescent Lake area has evolved into a dining hotspot at Walt Disney World.

Within walking distance, guests can find a wide variety of restaurants at the BoardWalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club, and the nearby Swan and Dolphin resorts. That concentration of dining locations makes the area one of the best places on property for visitors who want options beyond traditional theme park food.

In recent years, Disney has continued investing in resort-area dining experiences as part of its broader strategy to expand the appeal of staying on property. Many guests now plan entire evenings around exploring restaurants and lounges rather than spending every moment inside the parks.

That shift reflects how Disney vacations have changed. While rides and shows remain the centerpiece, food has become a major attraction in its own right.

Why the Extra Hour Matters

At first glance, extending breakfast service by an hour might not seem like a major development. But for Disney guests juggling park reservations, ride wait times, and packed daily itineraries, even small schedule adjustments can have a big impact.

That extra time allows guests to enjoy a more relaxed start to the day without feeling like they have to rush through breakfast. It also opens the door for travelers who might prefer to sleep in before beginning their park adventures.

In a destination where timing can make or break a day, having more flexibility with dining is always welcome news.

And for those planning a Walt Disney World trip in the coming months, this update might just provide another reason to stop by the BoardWalk and experience one of the resort’s most talked-about restaurants.
