Disney has shared a new update on the future of its beloved Ratatouille attraction.

Since its debut, Ratatouille has become one of Disney’s most immersive modern dark rides. Blending trackless technology with oversized sets and projection effects, the attraction drops guests into the frantic world of a professional kitchen from a rat’s-eye view.

The experience has proven popular across multiple resorts. Its mix of practical effects, detailed environments, and humor made it a standout for families and casual visitors alike, helping cement it as one of Pixar’s most successful theme park adaptations.

That success led Disney to quietly begin updating the attraction in recent years. Rather than changing the story, the company has focused on improving image clarity, lighting, and physical detail to better match modern guest expectations.

Now, Disney has confirmed a key timeline change tied to that effort.

Reopening Date Confirmed for ‘Ratatouille’ Attraction

Disneyland Paris has seemingly moved up the reopening date for Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy. The attraction is now scheduled to reopen on March 28, 2026, earlier than previously rumored.

The updated date places Ratatouille’s return just one day before Walt Disney Studios Park officially rebrands as Disney Adventure World. That timing ensures the attraction will be operating for the park’s opening day under its new identity.

Ratatouille originally opened at Walt Disney Studios Park in July 2014. Built inside a full-scale recreation of Place de Rémy, it marked Pixar’s first major ride-through attraction in Europe and quickly became one of the park’s headline offerings.

The ride uses trackless vehicles shaped like rat cars to shrink guests to the size of Rémy. Riders race through Gusteau’s restaurant, dodging oversized food, flames, and startled kitchen staff while practical sets and screens blend into a seamless experience.

A second version later opened at EPCOT in 2021. While largely identical, the Florida attraction was tailored to World Showcase, with differences in its façade, queue design, and narrative framing.

EPCOT’s version temporarily closed in November 2025 as Disney began removing 3D elements. The update introduced brighter, sharper visuals, alongside new lighting and projection enhancements throughout the ride and queue.

Paris has followed a similar upgrade path, but condensed into a shorter refurbishment window. During its closure, the attraction removed 3D entirely and installed new projectors to improve image quality and consistency.

Disney is also adding a refreshed queue scene inspired by a Parisian artist’s studio. New physical props are being integrated into the ride itself, aimed at adding texture and visual depth rather than altering the core experience.

When the ride first closed, Disney only confirmed a vague reopening window of spring 2026. More recent reports pointed to an April 11 return, which would have left the attraction closed during the park’s rebranding.

The Upcoming Debut of Disney Adventure World

On March 29, Walt Disney Studios Park officially becomes Disney Adventure World. The relaunch coincides with the opening of World of Frozen, anchored by Frozen Ever After, new dining and shopping locations, plus a walking, talking audio-animatronic of everyone’s favorite snowman, Olaf.

The same day also brings the debut of Adventure Way, a new promenade leading to Adventure Bay. The lake will host Disney Cascade of Lights, a nighttime show not dissimilar to World of Color, featuring drones and projections inspired by films like Moana, Hercules, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Adventure Way will also introduce Raiponce Tangled Spin, themed to Tangled, and The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge, a new character dining venue overlooking the park’s central lake.

The future also promises a land inspired by The Lion King – complete with a water ride akin to Splash Mountain – while rumors suggest an Avatar theme park expansion is also on the horizon.

By reopening Ratatouille a day early, Disneyland Paris avoids launching its transformed park without one of its most popular attractions. Instead, guests will return to Gusteau’s kitchen just as Disney Adventure World officially begins.
