The Jurassic Park franchise keeps going from strength to strength, and the latest film in the series, Jurassic World Rebirth, proved that dinosaurs still dominate the box office after grossing well over $850 million worldwide. Directed by Gareth Edwards (2014’s Godzilla, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) with a script by David Koepp (Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park), the film stars Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Endgame) and Jonathan Bailey (Wicked) in a standalone story. Despite overwhelmingly negative reviews, another sequel is rumored to be in the works; however, Universal has yet to confirm this.

The franchise also continues to make waves on the smaller screen, too, whether in the form of video game titles such as “Jurassic World Evolution 3” and “Jurassic Park: Survival” — two upcoming projects — or animated shows like Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory.

A Brief History of Jurassic World Animation

Since its debut on Netflix in 2020, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous has taken viewers on a thrilling ride through Isla Nublar and beyond. The animated series follows a group of teens who find themselves trapped on the island during the events of Jurassic World (2015).

It explored new storylines, hidden dangers, and the human and dinosaur conflicts that have defined the franchise in recent years.

Its spinoff, Chaos Theory, expanded the story even further, giving us older versions of the Nublar Six —  Darius, Kenji, Sammy, Brooklynn, Ben, and Yaz — and exploring unseen corners of the franchise while maintaining the same high-stakes thrills we’ve come to expect.

The Jurassic World Series Draws to a Close

Now, excitement is building for the fourth and final season of Chaos Theory, which promises to tie together threads from both series.

Netflix has released the first official trailer for the upcoming season, teasing more intense dinosaur encounters and the kind of cliffhangers that have defined Jurassic from the very beginning. And, like the end of Season 3, it will continue to overlap with the events of the 2022 film, Jurassic World Dominion. Watch the official trailer below:

Will Any Legacy Characters Appear?

As the show stomps toward its conclusion, fans are eager to see how the stories of their favorite characters will wrap up in this epic finale. But one question on everyone’s mind is whether Chaos Theory Season 4 will introduce characters like Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) — all of whom appear in Dominion — in animated form.

It would hardly be surprising. After all, previous seasons brought back many familiar faces from the 2022 film, such as Soyona Santos (Dichen Lachman), Henry Wu (Gren Chun), Barry Sembène (Evan Michael Lee), and Lewis Dodgson (Adam Harrington). Wu and Dodgson appear in the trailer for Season 4, but we’ll just have to wait and see if any of the main Jurassic heroes will get cameos.

Chaos Theory stars Paul-Mikél Williams as Darius Bowman, Darren Barnet as Kenji Kon (who was previously portrayed by Ryan Potter), Sean Giambrone as Ben Pincus, Kausar Mohammed as Yasmina “Yaz” Fadoula, Raini Rodriguez as Sammy Gutierrez, and Kiersten Kelly as Brooklynn (who was voiced by Jenna Ortega in Camp Cretaceous seasons 1 — 5).

The final season premieres on Netflix on November 20.
