Star Wars’ next LEGO special has added a surprising new Jedi to its ensemble. Disney+ will premiere LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past on September 19, and one piece of the puzzle that has fans really excited is the inclusion of Cal Kestis, with Cameron Monaghan returning to lend his vocal talents.
The Jedi Knight has been a fan-favorite since his debut in “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” (2019) and its sequel “Jedi: Survivor” (2023). While Cal has since appeared in a tie-in novel and a mobile app game, this marks Monaghan’s first time stepping back into the role — and his first time voicing Kestis outside the medium that made him a fan-favorite Jedi.

Monaghan has previously said that he’d like to bring Cal Kestis into live-action, but only if the story truly serves the character. That hasn’t happened yet, but Pieces of the Past offers the next best thing to that reality: more Kestis, alongside a returning lineup of Star Wars talent.
Following last year’s Rebuild the Galaxy, the new LEGO adventure sees the return Gaten Matarazzo as Sig Greebling, Tony Revolori as Darth Dev, Bobby Moynihan as Jedi Bob, Marsai Martin as Yesi Scala, Michael Cusack as Servo, Ahmed Best as Darth Jar Jar, and none other than Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker.

LEGO Star Wars has always leaned into absurdity and meta-humor, delivering mash-ups and “What If”-style moments impossible in canon. The first Rebuild the Galaxy special even gave fans Darth Jar Jar, so the addition of Cal Kestis isn’t shocking — but it is an exciting step forward for fans who have been eager to see Monaghan’s Jedi outside Respawn’s acclaimed games.
This animated detour arrives at a busy moment for the Star Wars franchise. The Mandalorian & Grogu is set to hit theaters in May 2026, followed by Shawn Levy’s Starfighter in May 2027 with Ryan Gosling. On Disney+, fans are still waiting for Ahsoka season 2, while other projects like Daisy Ridley’s Rey sequel and Dave Filoni’s Mando-Verse crossover film are still reportedly in development.
Even if Rebuild the Galaxy isn’t canon, seeing Cal finally make the leap is a win for longtime fans. Per StarWars.com, here’s the description for the upcoming miniseries:
Launching on Disney+ on September 19, 2025, LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past is a 4-part sequel series that will expand on the ever-changing future of Sig Greebling’s universe, which was turned upside down in every which way in last year’s original series debut: LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy.
