Disney World has confirmed Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will play “September” all day on September 21, 2025. This date has become an unofficial holiday for the ride, as it ties in to Earth, Wind & Fire’s iconic “September.”

Usually, one song is randomly selected from a group of six to play on Cosmic Rewind. These include:

  • September” by Earth, Wind & Fire
  • “Conga” by Gloria Estefan
  • “Disco Inferno” by The Trammps
  • “One Way or Another” by Blondie
  • “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears
  • “I Ran” by A Flock of Seagulls

“September” is by far the most popular and sought-after song on the list, with Disney leaning in to the fun with its special September 21 makeover,

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opened on May 27, 2022, a day that marked a new era for both EPCOT and Walt Disney World. The thrilling, immersive, and complex roller coaster is undoubtedly one of the most unique at the parks, featuring a reverse launch and a special ride system.

Like Disney’s other roller coasters, riders move along tracks as scenes play out in front (and beside them). However, Cosmic Rewind’s ride vehicles themselves spin and rotate, meaning guests aren’t just facing forward, but sideways, backwards, and all other directions during their journey.

In just the few short years it has been open, Cosmic Rewind has become one of Disney’s best ever and one of the highest-rated coasters in the country, standing tall next to other popular attractions like Universal’s Jurassic World VelociCoaster and Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure.

Cosmic Rewind also marked the first “true thrill ride” to open at EPCOT. Sure, the park was already home to Soarin’ Around the World and Test Track, both certainly exciting experiences in their own ways, but Cosmic Rewind stepped things up quite a few notches.

Cosmic Rewind is no slouch in the thrills department. The coaster hits top speeds of 60 mph and features some stomach-churning twists and turns. The ride is so intense that Disney offers motion sickness bags at the exit of the coaster, something only seen in a handful of other Disney World attractions.
