What’s going on with the Magic Kingdom?

Disney has dismantled the Adventureland entrance sign at Magic Kingdom. This sign has historically greeted guests as they walk to Adventureland from the park’s central hub in Main Street U.S.A., but has since been mostly removed.
This process began last week, when Disney removed the Adventureland sign from its frame. The sign vanished, but the structure remained, prompting some speculation about what Disney actually had planned for the installation. Other items, like themed props, were also removed.
Now, according to BlogMickey, Disney has torn down the actual sign structure. All that’s left are a few posts.
What this means exactly is unknown, though it’s possible that the Adventureland entrance may be getting a complete makeover. This wouldn’t be unprecedented, as Tomorrowland’s main entrance underwent a significant redesign back in 2019.
It’s also possible that Disney is using this as an opportunity to make Adventureland more inclusive and less problematic.
Some of the props used for the Adventureland sign may not align with Disney’s other recent efforts to adjust rides and attractions like Peter Pan’s Flight and Jungle Cruise. Disney has updated both attractions over the years, making them less culturally insensitive in the process.

This isn’t the only update happening in this section of the park. Adventureland is set to get a major upgrade later this month with The Beak and Barrel. The new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed bar is a step in a new direction for Magic Kingdom, but it will feel familiar to those who have traveled to Black Spire Outpost, part of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The new bar will feature authentic Pirates of the Caribbean theming, details, and drinks, including a souvenir skull mug. The bar’s menu was released earlier this month, revealing several tasty and tempting treats to enjoy.
The Beak and Barrel officially opens on August 29, 2025.
Work is also continuing on the transformation of the park’s Rivers of America into Piston Peak. This new park area will be inspired by Pixar’s Cars franchise and will take over the former spot of Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat attractions.
Disney announced this project during its D23 event in 2024, something that came as quite a shock to the fandom. Piston Peak is expected to be open by 2027.
