Big changes are shifting into gear at Walt Disney World Resort, and one of EPCOT’s most iconic attractions is racing toward an exciting new chapter. In World Discovery, crews have been hard at work reimagining Test Track presented by General Motors, and the transformation promises to deliver both a nod to the past and a thrilling new ride experience.

As part of this update, fans will soon see Test Track pay tribute to World of Motion, the classic EPCOT attraction that originally occupied the space. The updated experience is due to open on July 22, 2025, and once completed, will be included in the top tier of the Lightning Lane offering.
“Get ready to feel the thrill of the open road, the wind in your hair, and nothing but adventure ahead!” Disney Parks Blog shared. “Test Track presented by General Motors is making its return lap late summer 2025.”
Guests got their first real glimpse of progress earlier this year, when Walt Disney Imagineering provided a peek behind the construction walls during Women in Construction Week. In a special video shared on Instagram, Project Engineer Carleigh offered a look into a typical day on site.
As the camera followed her through the work zone, viewers could see the attraction’s former queue completely stripped, making room for a bold new design.

Just a few months later, EPCOT fans received another exciting reveal: the newly installed marquee sign for Test Track.
Walt Disney Imagineering’s official Instagram account shared images of the updated signage, which now features the refreshed logo in glowing, illuminated letters that complement the attraction’s sleek, modern architecture. “Installation of the new marquee at Test Track presented by @generalmotors has begun!” the caption read, highlighting the Imagineering team on the ground.
This project represents the latest collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and General Motors, and the teams are working together on what Disney calls “an all-new storyline.”

Just last month, Disney confirmed that Test Track would be opening to Annual Passholders ahead of its public debut, with Passholder Previews taking place on July 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, and 19. There is currently no explanation as to why July 17 is absent from the list. Along with the news that Passholders would be among the first to ride, Disney confirmed the divisive virtual queue system was coming back.
Now, details of the upcoming virtual queue have been launched on the My Disney Experience app.
“On July 13, 14, 15, 16, 18 and 19, Annual Passholders can request to join the virtual queue for Annual Passholder previews of Test Track presented by General Motors® at 7:00 AM (a valid Annual Pass and a theme park reservation to EPCOT is required); or at 1:00 PM (a valid Annual Pass is required),” the notice on the app reads.
At this time, EPCOT reservations for Annual Passholders have sold out for July 13.

The reimagined Test Track was originally announced during D23 Expo 2024, where Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro spotlighted the many projects reshaping Disney parks across the globe. “Imagineers dream, create, design and build these stories into real places,” D’Amaro said. “And we have Imagineers in place right now all around the world… Plans are drawn. Dirt is moving.”
That momentum is visible throughout the Walt Disney World Resort in 2025. Over at Magic Kingdom Park, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure recently transitioned to standby and Lightning Lane access, following a similar change for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT.
The end of the virtual queue system for these popular attractions marked a shift in how guests experience some of the resort’s biggest thrills. On its first day with a standby line, Cosmic Rewind’s wait time neared three hours.

Beyond EPCOT, updates are revving up in every corner of the resort. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has closed indefinitely, landscape work has begun on the future site of Magic Kingdom’s “Beyond Big Thunder” expansion, and over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, plans are underway to bring Monsters, Inc. into the spotlight with a brand-new land.
Meanwhile, fans of immersive attractions continue to keep a close eye on developments at EPCOT, where the Test Track refresh is seen as both a celebration of the park’s roots and a leap forward in innovation.
With so much happening across the resort—and the all-new Epic Universe theme park having opened just down the road at Universal Orlando—some Disney fans are adjusting their vacation timelines to catch all the newest offerings.
