With all of the changes coming to Magic Kingdom, one attraction seems to have been left out: the Haunted Mansion. Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion was conceived as a palace overlooking a river, but without the river, it feels like a ride without a home.

The ride’s aesthetics don’t necessarily fit with Liberty Square, nor do they fit into what the new Frontierland will be. This left many fans wondering what would become of one of Disney fans’ favorite rides.
While the Haunted Mansion isn’t going away, based on some new information, it appears that parts of the ride will change along with the rest of Magic Kingdom.
According to a new report from WDWNT, Disney has added construction markers running through the cemetery in the Haunted Mansion queue. These orange-topped markers run straight through some of the tombstones and are connected by a line of spray paint.

Disney has not announced any changes to the Haunted Mansion, so seeing construction markers is jarring to fans. However, Disney has announced that a new pathway will take guests from the Haunted Mansion to the new Cars Land, and perhaps the queue will have to move to accommodate that new path.
Losing the tombstones would be another blow to the Magic Kingdom’s history. Each tombstone represents a Disney Imagineer who helped build and design the beloved attraction, and their punny epitaphs help usher guests into the Haunted Mansion.

Disney has already added construction walls to the opening part of the queue that once overlooked Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. Those two attractions closed earlier this month to make way for the new Cars Land, and demolition has already started.
So, while there is no reason for alarm, the jarring changes that have shaken the Magic Kingdom could also mean changes coming to the Haunted Mansion. Beware, foolish mortals, you should know that making changes to the Haunted Mansion is a line in the sand for Disney fans, and this would be the last straw.
