Even the idea of re-creating the timeless classic for a new generation doesn’t sit well with fans, despite how inevitable it might seem in an era where countless animated films have already been given the live-action treatment.
Though many of us would love to see Littlefoot, Cera, Ducky, Petrie, and Spike brave the dangers of a tumultuous prehistoric landscape as they make for the Great Valley again, these deeply cherished characters are perhaps best left preserved in time — much like dinosaurs.
But while there are no Land Before Time projects for streaming or theaters in the works, we’re still getting new versions of the characters in the form of a Funko POPs collection (although we’re not entirely sure why seeing as this year isn’t a milestone anniversary).
Check out the tweet shared by the official Funko POPs account on X (Twitter) below, which shows the new Littlefoot, Cera, Ducky, Petrie, Spike, and Sharptooth figurines:

Understandably, many fans are besides themselves with excitement, but some describe the Funko POP’s standard “beetle-eyed” look as “nightmare fuel,” with one even saying that Cera “looks evil”.
“Why must they be creepy with the eyes?” another fan asks. “At least add eye details and then I’d gladly buy them but no details to those is a skip, sorry but this was my childhood.”
Are We Getting a Land Before Time Remake?
Whether we’ll be seeing newer versions of these characters on the big screen one day remains to be seen. But we can’t help but wonder what The Land Before Time would look like in live action (or “photorealism”) like Disney’s 2019 remake of The Lion King.
However, there is a fan-made film titled Littlefoot in the works.
