Universal Studios Japan has finally confirmed that Jurassic Park: The Ride will reopen on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. The attraction first closed in September 2023, marking over a year-long refurbishment for one of Universal’s most iconic theme park rides to date.

Universal Studios Japan announced the news on its social media channels, sending a message to guests and ride fans alike.

Jurassic Park – The Ride, which has been closed for renovations since September 2023, will reopen on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Thank you all for your understanding and cooperation. Please look forward to the reopening (Translated)

Along with the announcement, Universal Studios Japan shared a brief video showing off the ride, which appears to have received a fresh coat of paint and numerous technical upgrades.

Japan’s Jurassic Park: The Ride is similar to Universal’s other Jurassic Park and Jurassic World-themed attractions, taking guests on a boat tour around “Jurassic Park.” Of course, things quickly go haywire, with guests winding up next to massive dinosaur animatronics. The ride caps off with a face-off with a T-Rex before guests are sent down an 85-foot drop.

Jurassic Park: The Ride has been part of Universal Studios Japan since the resort opened in 2001 and has since become one of the theme park’s most popular rides.

The original Jurassic Park film was instrumental in the success of the original Universal Studios theme park in California, along with other classic movies like Jaws and E.T.

While several legendary rides and attractions have closed over the decades, Jurassic Park: The Ride and all of its variants have remained a core part of the Universal Studios experience, and fans are likely happy to see Japan’s version finally return after its extended refurbishment.
