Guests “Jump Off” Space Mountain at Disneyland California

Many Disney Parks fans dream of seeing Space Mountain with the lights on. For those who haven’t experienced a behind-the-scenes look at the indoor roller coaster in person, one Disneyland Resort guest recently shared their experience evacuating the decades-old ride!

Space Mountain is practically synonymous with the Disney parks. Versions of the Tomorrowland ride or its Star Wars retheme, Hyperspace Mountain, operate at Disneyland Park, Magic Kingdom Park, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland. Tokyo Disneyland recently shuttered its version of the attraction for an all-new indoor roller coaster opening in 2027, rumored to be called Space Mountain Earthrise.

Because Space Mountain takes guests on a pitch-black intergalactic journey, many Disney Parks fans dream of seeing the attraction lit up. That dream came true for TikToker @polderexpress:

POV: the lights turn on and you’re stuck on Space Mountain so you have to JUMP off the ride,” the Disney Park guest wrote.

In the video, several Disneyland Resort guests laughed and waved to other trapped riders while waiting for assistance.

“This was not on my bingo card,” one Disney Park guest said.

Disney cast members eventually arrived, unlocking the roller coaster’s safety restraints and helping guests descend the emergency evacuation stairs. While the experience undoubtedly scared some guests, others clearly enjoyed seeing an unfiltered look at Space Mountain.

“Woah, we get to go down the blue tunnel?!” one guest exclaimed.

“The secret exit was awesome,” the TikToker wrote. “…I can’t believe my dream came true.”

Other Disney Parks fans envied their experience.

“My absolute dream omg,” @kisskenobi commented. “All I got was fricken dwarfs mine train stopping for 5 minutes.”

“Core memory for sure,” said @hehe_its_miriam.

Disneyland Resort rarely publicizes the reasons for its ride evacuations and didn’t issue a statement on this one. However, Space Mountain eventually reopened and was operating normally at the time of this article’s finalization.
