It looks like one Pixar film has been booted from Disney.
Monsters, Inc. was a critical and commercial success upon its release in 2001, grossing over $525 million worldwide. The film’s humor, heartwarming story, and memorable characters resonated with audiences of all ages. Its success led to the creation of several spin-offs, including the television series Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University.
The popularity of Monsters, Inc. has made it a natural fit for Disney theme parks. The franchise has been integrated into various attractions and experiences, providing fans with immersive opportunities to interact with their favorite characters.
At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, guests can enjoy the interactive show Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor Comedy Club, where they participate in a comedy routine with characters from the film.
Tokyo Disneyland and Disney California Adventure feature Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!, a ride where guests embark on a rescue mission with Mike and Sulley. Additionally, Disney California Adventure’s Monsters University Campus offers guests the chance to explore the campus where Mike and Sulley attended college.
Monsters, Inc. Leaves Disneyland Paris
Monsters, Inc. has also made a significant impact at Disneyland Paris Resort.
At Disneyland Paris, we have slowly started to see the disappearance of all things Monsters, Inc.
Disneyland Paris is undergoing a major transformation, with significant changes planned for its second theme park, previously known as Walt Disney Studios Park. This overhaul goes beyond visual updates, aiming to completely reimagine the park’s identity and overall guest experience.
Studio 1, which once greeted visitors with the lively atmosphere of a Hollywood sound stage, will soon align with the park’s rebranding as Disney Adventure World.
A key part of this transformation is the year-long closure of Studio 1, starting on April 25, 2024. This renovation will also affect several well-known locations within the area, including Restaurant en Coulisse, Legends of Hollywood, and Hollywood Jewel Box.
The renovation marks a shift toward the future of Disney Adventure World, with Restaurant en Coulisse set to undergo a dramatic redesign, turning it from a movie-set dining spot into a vibrant garden party inspired by a movie premiere.
With this renovation came the removal of the Monsters, Inc. Scream Monitors, and now, the photo location has been fully erased.
DLP Report shared, “At Walt Disney Studios Park, the Monsters Inc. photo location has been fully erased. Walls continue to move around as the front of the work refurbishment continues.”

Right now, the last remaining Monsters, Inc. crumbs at Disneyland Paris lie in Together: A Pixar Musical Adventure.
Disney World Will Expand on Monsters, Inc.
You know what they say, when one door closes, another will open, and that is exactly what we expect to see with the Monsters, Inc. IP.
Disney has unveiled ambitious expansion plans for three of its four theme parks in the coming years.
As part of the D23 fan festival, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro shared exciting updates on Saturday, detailing what’s in store for Walt Disney World in Orlando and other parks globally.
Among the highlights is the first-ever fully immersive land dedicated to Monsters, Inc., where visitors will step inside the factory for the first time. Construction on this project is slated to begin next year.
Magic Kingdom will also see its “largest expansion” in history, including a new area featuring two attractions from the Cars franchise, set to break ground in 2025. Concept art for these attractions was also revealed.
In addition, Disney is bringing the dark side to life with a new Villains Land, featuring two major attractions, dining, and shopping in an elaborate, twisted design. Construction on this area is already underway.
Evenings will get a magical boost with the debut of the “Disney Starlight” nighttime parade next summer, keeping the fun alive after sunset.
Animal lovers will also have plenty to enjoy, with two new attractions centered around Indiana Jones and Encanto, located in a new Tropical Americas section. Construction begins this fall, with a planned opening in 2027.
D’Amaro emphasized Disney’s commitment to growth and innovation, saying, “With so many great Disney stories to tell, we’re excited to bring an unprecedented number of new projects to life in the near future.”
In addition to these developments, Tiana’s Bayou is set to debut at Disneyland in California for the holiday season, and construction on the Avengers Campus will begin next year, featuring two new attractions—Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab.
More on Monsters, Inc.
Monsters, Inc. takes place in Monstropolis, a city powered by the screams of human children. Monsters are employed by Monsters, Inc. to enter children’s bedrooms through closet doors and collect their screams. The film’s central conflict arises when a young girl named Boo accidentally enters the monster world, turning the tables on the scarers and forcing them to confront their own fears.
This unexpected twist subverted traditional monster tropes, creating a world where children were the source of fear rather than the victims. This resonated with audiences, offering a fresh perspective on the relationship between monsters and children.
The film’s success is further bolstered by its memorable characters. James P. Sullivan (Sulley), the top scarer at Monsters, Inc., and his one-eyed best friend and assistant Mike Wazowski formed a hilarious and endearing duo. Their contrasting personalities fueled the film’s comedic moments.
The curious and adventurous human child, Boo, added a touch of innocence and vulnerability to the narrative. The dynamic between Sulley, Mike, and Boo formed the emotional core of the film, highlighting the importance of compassion and understanding the unknown.
Beyond the humor and imaginative world-building, Monsters, Inc. explores themes that resonate with audiences of all ages. The film tackles concepts of friendship, loyalty, overcoming fear, and the power of laughter. The message that laughter is a more powerful energy source than fear remains relevant today, encouraging viewers to embrace joy and positive emotions.
