We’ve got new updates about the status of a beloved guest destination inside Walt Disney World Resort.
Walt Disney World in Florida is renowned for its expansive array of attractions, offering something for every guest, whether they’re seeking thrills, family-friendly entertainment, or immersive themed experiences.

The resort features four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Beyond these, Disney World offers two water parks — Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach — which have provided guests with refreshing escapes from the Florida heat.
However, one of these water parks, Disney’s Blizzard Beach, has been closed since March 2024, leaving many guests eagerly awaiting its reopening.
Disney’s Blizzard Beach, one of the most uniquely themed water parks in the world, has been undergoing a significant refurbishment since its closure on March 17, 2024.
Major updates have been given on Disney’s Blizzard Beach

This extended closure has left many wondering what changes and updates are in store for this beloved park. Blizzard Beach has always stood out for its imaginative design, featuring a melting ski resort theme that provides a whimsical contrast to the warm Florida climate.
From the thrilling Summit Plummet, one of the tallest and fastest free-fall body slides in the world, to the relaxing Cross Country Creek, a lazy river that winds through the park, Blizzard Beach has been a favorite for both adrenaline seekers and those looking for a more laid-back experience.
Recently, Disney has provided some new updates regarding the ongoing refurbishment of Blizzard Beach. Several new construction permits have been filed, indicating that significant work is still being carried out within the Disney park.
One of the key updates involves MLC Theming, a company known for its work on themed environments, which has been contracted to conduct “general construction” on the Slush Gusher. This slide, known for its high-speed drops and thrilling bumps, is one of the park’s iconic attractions.
The involvement of MLC Theming suggests that this attraction may be receiving some notable enhancements, possibly improving the ride experience or updating its theming to align with other recent park upgrades.

In addition to the work on Slush Gusher, there have been two more permits filed for “general construction” related to Schwenn Mechanical Maintenance and Service Group, LLC.
The details of these permits are less specific, but the involvement of a company specializing in mechanical maintenance indicates that the refurbishments could include necessary infrastructure updates to ensure the park’s attractions operate smoothly and safely upon reopening.
Whether these updates involve behind-the-scenes improvements or more visible changes remains to be seen, but they are a clear indication that Disney is investing in ensuring Blizzard Beach is in top condition when it welcomes guests back.
When will Blizzard Beach finally reopen in Disney World?
According to the most recent updates from Disney’s official calendar, it looks like the park is scheduled to reopen on November 4, 2024. This reopening date aligns with Disney’s recent practice of alternating the operations of its two water parks.
Over the last few years, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach have alternated closures for refurbishment, ensuring that at least one water park is always open for guests. Following this pattern, it is expected that when Blizzard Beach reopens, Typhoon Lagoon will close for its own round of maintenance and updates.

Please keep in mind that we’re awaiting an official word from Disney before we’ll know for sure.
As November approaches, Disney fans and water park enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the return of Blizzard Beach.
The park’s extended closure and the extensive refurbishments being undertaken suggest that there may be some exciting new changes in store.
Whether it’s updated theming, enhanced attractions, or simply refreshed infrastructure, guests can look forward to a renewed experience at one of Disney World’s most beloved water parks. Until then, all eyes will be on the calendar as we count down the days to November 4, when Blizzard Beach is reportedly set to make its long-awaited return.
