The Cost To Visit Disney World Is Getting Out of Hand

The post-pandemic world has ushered in an era of increased costs, which is more evident than at Walt Disney World Resort. As families once again look to create magical memories at the world’s most iconic theme park, many find that the price of a Disney vacation has soared beyond their reach.

Since the pandemic ended, the cost of tickets, accommodations, and even meals at Disney World has steadily climbed, putting pressure on families hoping for a magical escape.

Many visitors, particularly those with large families, feel the financial strain. Reports indicate that some families are forced to forfeit their long-planned vacations while others take out loans just to cover the basic expenses of a Disney World trip.

With daily park tickets exceeding $100 per person and the cost of onsite hotel stays reaching several hundred dollars per night, the dream of visiting Disney World is slipping away for some.

“We saved for years to take our kids to Disney World, but with the rising costs, it’s becoming impossible,” said Jane Thompson, a mother of three from New Jersey. “We might have to reconsider our plans or find alternative ways to make this trip happen.” In response to the rising costs, families are seeking ways to save wherever possible, including cutting down on travel expenses.

Orlando International Airport To Add More Affordable Flight Routes to WDW

This need for affordability is where Orlando International Airport (MCO) comes into play. Recognizing the financial challenges faced by travelers, MCO is gearing up to add more flight paths that are both convenient and budget-friendly.

Orlando International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, is a gateway to Central Florida’s tourism industry, with millions of visitors passing through its terminals each year.

Thanks to the draw of massive attractions like Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort, MCO has become a critical hub for domestic and international travel. As the airport continues to see an influx of passengers, it is working diligently to expand its offerings and accommodate the growing demand for affordable flights.

This fall, budget-conscious travelers can look forward to new and more affordable options as MCO introduces additional flight paths to reduce travel costs to the region.

MCO’s efforts to expand flight paths are part of a broader initiative to ensure that Central Florida remains an accessible destination for all, regardless of budget. Introducing new routes is expected to ease the financial burden on families looking to visit Orlando’s theme parks, allowing more people to experience the magic without breaking the bank.

In a significant boost to MCO’s affordability campaign, Frontier Airlines, one of America’s most popular budget carriers, has announced the launch of two new flight routes to Orlando.

This fall, Frontier will introduce flights from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) starting October 27 and from Virginia’s Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) beginning November 14.

These new routes are a welcome addition for travelers from two of the country’s busiest metropolitan areas, offering more affordable options for getting to Orlando. The move is part of Frontier’s larger expansion plan, which includes 11 new routes across 15 airports between October and November.

“As consumers look ahead to the fall and winter months and make their holiday plans, we are thrilled to expand our roster of convenient and affordable travel options again,” said Josh Flyr, Vice President of Network and Operations Design for Frontier Airlines.

“From warm weather destinations such as Southern California, Texas, and Florida or winter sports meccas Utah and Colorado, to popular metropolitan areas like New York, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C., there are now even more exciting destinations to choose from when flying Frontier.”

Frontier Airlines has already established itself as a significant player at Orlando International Airport, and adding these new routes will only enhance its presence.

In 2023, Frontier was the fourth-largest airline flying into MCO by passenger share, with 7.11 million passengers, representing a 12.32% share of the airport’s traffic, according to the Orlando Business Journal. The new routes mark Frontier’s return to Dulles since the COVID-19 pandemic, signaling the airline’s commitment to expanding its reach and providing budget-friendly travel options.

These new flights offer hope to families and budget-conscious travelers amidst rising vacation costs. By providing more affordable ways to reach Central Florida, Frontier Airlines is helping to ensure that a Disney World vacation remains within reach for a broader audience. Introducing these new routes is expected to be a game-changer for families looking to save money on their trips to Orlando.

With flights from major metropolitan areas like New York City and Washington D.C. now more accessible, travelers can plan their vacations around budget-friendly travel dates. As the holiday season approaches, the demand for affordable flights is expected to rise, and Frontier’s new routes are poised to meet that demand.

Whether traveling to experience the magic of Disney World or to enjoy Central Florida’s other attractions, guests can now do so with the assurance that affordable travel options are available.
