Every year, dedicated Disney fans spend thousands on trips to the Disney theme parks. After making such an investment in the magic of Disney, fans expect Disney to meet their quality standards.

Unfortunately, a recent guest report has sparked a wave of discussion about whether Disneyland Resort is losing its famed charm and magic. Long-time visitors have voiced their concerns over what they perceive as a decline in the park’s experience, citing several changes that they feel detract from the Disney magic they once cherished.

Has Disney Changed for the Worst?

The Disney guest, who has been a dedicated Annual Passholder for years, expressed disappointment after recent visits to the park. They noted that the once-vibrant landscaping and decor now seem less special, with observations of plastic flowers in window boxes and a lack of seasonal decorations beyond Halloween and Christmas.

The Disney guest complaints express a perceived decline in the quality of the park’s upkeep, including less-maintained rides, visible trash on the ground, and chipping paint—elements that were once kept in pristine condition. In the past, Disney has been adored for their attention to detail, so these reports come as a shock.

The guest also raised concerns about overcrowding and the impact on the overall guest experience. They reported that crowds felt tighter than usual and that some visitors seemed less friendly, which contributed to a less enjoyable atmosphere.

Additionally, changes in park policies were noted as a major point of contention. Specifically, the guest was frustrated by experiencing ride breakdowns, such as a lengthy wait for Space Mountain that resulted in the ride shutting down without offering compensation vouchers, a practice that was previously common. The full report reads:

“Is Disneyland losing its magic?

I have always loved Disneyland mostly because of its charm. I’ve had annual passes for many years and on the years that I don’t usually go a few times a year. But the last few times I’ve gone I’ve just left feeling disappointed. The landscaping and decor feels less special (plastic flowers in window boxes, very little seasonal changes besides Halloween and Christmas). The rides feel less maintained. The crowds feel even tighter than usual and people seem crabby and you see trash on the floor and paint chipping. Things you never saw before. And while the employees are still nice the policies have changed for the worse. For instance, I waited for over an hour in line for Space Mountain only to have it break down and be told you’re out of luck. They used to give you vouchers to come back later. This same process repeated itself on other rides too. And I find the genie pass and all the other add on things so confusing to navigate. I don’t want my family to have to be tied to our phones all day. Just feels like all a big money grab now. Sigh.”
