The Disney theme park resorts are constantly undergoing changes and overhauls, ensuring there’s something new for guests to discover around every corner. Walt Disney himself stated that the Disney theme park would never truly be finished, with this ringing especially true for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts.

However, plenty of exciting things are happening internationally as well, with the Disneyland Paris Resort confirming the demolition and destruction of one of the most iconic locations.

The Disney Events Arena will soon disappear entirely from the Disneyland Paris Resort, with the convention space set to be demolished. Per Disneyphile, a permit to demolish the Disney Events Arena has been granted, with work expected to start soon.

The arena is located in Disney Village, an outdoor shopping and dining area similar to Disney Springs at Walt Disney World or Downtown Disney at Disneyland.

The project is massive in size, with the Disney Events Arena being the largest event space in the entire resort. Over the years, the Disney Events Arena has hosted dozens of conventions, including gala dinners, shows, sporting events, and even congressional events.

In 2012, the Disney Events Arena held the Electronic Sports World Cup. The event hosted the Table Tennis World Cup in 2018, with the Disneyland Paris Leaders Cup LNB being held from 2013 to 2020.

The massive arena measures over 77,000 square feet and features neutral and modular spaces designed to accommodate the resort’s and dozens of external companies’ needs. It has hosted events since 2010.

The decision to demolish this space may come as a surprise, with Disneyland Paris making a large investment in the Disney Events Arena in 2021. The space was renovated for roughly ten months and equipped with brand-new audiovisual capabilities and a new 45-foot LED wall.

It’s not yet confirmed what will take over the space once the Disney Events Arena is demolished, though it’s rumored a new hotel may be in the cards for Disneyland Paris.

This is far from the only project currently taking shape at the Disneyland Paris Resort, with several rides, attractions, and areas closing down for refurbishment over the last several months.

During Disney’s D23 event in August, the company announced that a brand-new attraction based on The Lion King will be coming to Disneyland Paris. The attraction will open sometime around the resort’s World of Frozen expansion.
