The story of Peter Parker, the Queens native who embodies the timeless lesson “with great power comes great responsibility,” has become iconic. Numerous actors have portrayed Spider-Man on screen, honoring the rich legacy created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in Marvel Comics.

Spider-Man’s cinematic journey began with Tobey Maguire in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy (2002–2007), which may be making a comeback. Andrew Garfield followed, starring in The Amazing Spider-Man series, with the first film in 2012 and the second in 2014.

Under the leadership of Kevin Feige, the The Walt Disney Company’s MCU formed a groundbreaking partnership with Sony.

This collaboration introduced multiple versions of Spider-Man into the MCU, along with iconic villains like Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin/Norman Osborn and Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus/Doc Ock. The collaboration reached its peak with the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021.

Despite worries about “superhero fatigue” and the dismissal of Jonathan Majors, who formerly played Kang the Conqueror, Marvel Studios is poised to redefine the Marvel movie landscape once again.

Spider-Man Star Repeats Familiar Move

IndieWire recently spoke to Garfield about the recent rumor that Sony Pictures is keen on recreating the Spider-Man: No Way Home effect in their partnership with Disney’s Marvel Studios — particularly in the realm of the Multiverse in order to bring these various Spider-adjacent heroes together once again.

Just like the lead up to No Way Home, Garfield is straight-up denying any involvement in the MCU’s future:

I mean, like the internet is a big place. I think there’s a lot of people who will just say anything to get clicks. So you might have been duped, I’m afraid.

A move very much familiar to Garfield’s blatant lies about being involved in the previous No Way Home. Previously, Garfield had insisted that he was in no way involved — only for these to be total lies meant to waylay the general audience.
