Universal to Once Again Close down THIS Theme Park Thanks to Inclement Weather

Sorry folks, if you were hoping to slide down some water and hang out at the beachside, you might want to rethink your plans as Universal Orlando Resort is once again closing down its water park, Volcano Bay, due to inclement weather. This Universal theme park has closed down multiple times this year alone, sparking concern from guests. It should be noted worldwide that this is Universal’s only water park, as Universal Studios Singapore, Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Studios Japan, and Universal Beijing Resort do not have water parks.

Universal Volcano Bay will be closed on Tuesday, February 20, due to inclement weather. For park updates, please call 407-817-8317 or stay tuned to Universal Orlando’s social channels.

Inclement weather denotes adverse atmospheric conditions characterized by severity, which may jeopardize individuals’ safety and comfort while impeding routine activities. This encompasses phenomena like heavy rainfall, snowstorms, powerful winds, extreme temperatures (both high and low), thunderstorms, hurricanes, or any amalgamation thereof.

Universal wants to keep its guests safe, and sometimes that means closing down a theme park in Orlando during harsh weather. Harsh weather can also mean lower-than-average temperatures, and in Central Florida, this mean anything below 50 degrees? We don’t know since there seem to be no parameters to measure when Universal decided to close down its water park. And we’re not the only ones confused:

What is your criteria for when Volcano bay is open/closed??

It would seem guests are beginning to question and wonder just when or how Universal decides to close down Volcano Bay, as it has shut down quite a few times since the start of the year. However, the theme park giant is good at getting back to others quickly with timely responses and information to allow the guests to make the best decision for them possible.

Universal’s Volcano Bay water park is open year-round but may close if it gets too cold. The park will not open if the temperature drops below 50–55° F (10–12.7° C).

If you’ve never been to Volcano Bay or heard of this third Universal Orlando theme park, it’s a tropical-themed water park at Universal Orlando Resort that opened in May of 2017. The park is divided into four themed areas, each inspired by different Polynesian islands and cultures. The centerpiece is a 200-foot-tall volcano called “Krakatau” that features waterfalls during the day and lava flows at night.

All rides at Volcano Bay feature a Virtual Line, which changes how you wait. To use the Virtual Line, tap in with your TapuTapu wearable to grab a ride time. Your TapuTapu will then tell you when it’s your time to ride.

To keep guests happy and active at this Resort in Orlando, Universal is gearing up to open Epic Universe in 2025, which will bring about Celestial Park, a new Harry Potter expansion, the Dark Universe, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, and so much more. Universal Studios Orlando Resort used targeted advertising in its recent look into this brand-new Universal Park. Universal CityWalk will soon get a Universal Epic Universe preview center that will take over the former Legacy Store.
