Netflix is officially cutting ties with Taylor Swift amid the latest developments, and speculation is growing about the singer-songwriter.
Netflix is, without a doubt, the biggest streaming platform in the world today. The company boasts more than 247 million subscribers and continues to see healthy profit lines. Though Netflix continues to see success, the company has had its fair share of issues as of late.

Netflix subscribers have become upset at increasing prices. The company has continued to hike prices, now introducing three different subscription levels, including one with ad support. Though the standard with ads starts at $6.99, Netflix has cracked down on password sharing and no longer allows users to share their passwords with friends or family who live outside their household. Instead, they can either pay $15.49 per month for standard without the ads, or they can upgrade to premium for $22.99 per month if they’d like to share with users outside their homes.
In addition, the competitive nature of the streaming landscape has led to bidding wars for popular shows and movies, driving up content acquisition costs. Moreover, the aforementioned periodic price increases have sparked debates about the sustainability of Netflix’s business model and the potential impact on its subscriber base.
Of course, Netflix’s commitment to original content has been a game-changer and this has kept many subscribers around, even through the price hikes. The production of critically acclaimed series like Stranger Things, The Crown, and Narcos has not only garnered a dedicated fan base but also earned numerous awards. By investing heavily in exclusive content, Netflix positioned itself as a content creator rather than just a distributor, solidifying its status as an industry leader.

With all that being said, Netflix has announced a substantial content cut scheduled for December. Among the casualties is a significant title: Taylor Swift reputation Stadium Tour (2018). The removal of this tour film from the platform marks the end of an era for Swifties who enjoyed reliving the electrifying performances of the Reputation era. This departure reflects Netflix’s ongoing renegotiations with content providers and the challenges of maintaining an extensive and diverse library.
To comprehend the impact of losing Taylor Swift’s tour from Netflix, it’s essential to delve into Swift’s illustrious career. Taylor Swift, a multiple Grammy-winning artist, is renowned not only for her chart-topping music but also for her theatrical, visually stunning concerts. The Reputation Stadium Tour was a global phenomenon, showcasing Swift’s evolution as an artist and performer. Capturing this on film allowed fans worldwide to experience the grandeur of the tour, from the intricate stage designs to the spectacular performances of hits like “…Ready For It,” “Delicate,” and “Look What You Made Me Do.”
With Swift seeing her concert removed from Netflix, it has pushed a growing narrative that she may be getting ready to sign a major deal with Netflix’s biggest competition: Disney.

Multiple fans have speculated that Swift may release her new film, The Eras Tour, on Disney+. In addition to working with Disney to potentially get that movie on the streaming platform, there have long been rumors that she might join the company to play a live-action version of the beloved princess Rapunzel. Of course, the rumor doesn’t come without merit.
Taylor Swift became Rapunzel in the Disney Dream Portrait series back in 2013. Since that point, fans have wanted to see the singer take on the role in a live-action film. With news heating up that Disney is developing the live-action Tangled, rumors are growing that Taylor Swift could play the role. Of course, this hasn’t been confirmed.
