Mack was originally sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of misleading women while she served as a high-ranking member to cult figurehead, Keith Raniere.
According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Allison Mack, 40, was released from federal prison in Dublin, California. She evaded a longer prison term by aiding federal officials in their investigation against Raniere, who was eventually sentenced to 120 years in prison for sex trafficking. Mack assisted prosecutors in assembling evidence that demonstrated the former leader’s corrupt secret society, where he trained his followers to brainwash desirable women. He would have them branded with his initials and directed them to do his bidding under the guise of self-discovery.
Mack would have faced 14 to 17.5 years in prison under federal sentencing guidelines, but prosecutors agreed that the former CW star deserved less time due to her integral contributions with investigators. Her attorney supported the statement by expressing that she has the potential to be useful to society as a family member, friend and helper to those in need. The vilified actress expressed remorse and guilt previous to her sentencing and rebuked both Raniere and his cult.
Mack was known for her teenage portrayal as Clark Kent’s closest friend, Chloe Sullivan, on the hit TV series, Smallville. It was a long-running flagship series for the CW that depicted the coming-of-age adventures of a young Superman. At the height of her fame in 2006, the 23-year-old actress was introduced to Raniere by fellow co-star, Kristin Kruek, who claimed he was a guru in self-empowerment. Mack soon became enamored with him and was groomed to help shape his group into what it became until its dismantling. She even messaged other celebrities like singer, Kelly Clarkson and actress, Emma Watson, to join NXIVM. The German-born actress claimed she originally joined to find purpose in her life and become a better artist.
Allison Mack was a talented actress who played a standout character in her role on Smallville. While some celebrities get second chances at fame like Robert Downey Jr., Lindsay Lohan, and Mickey Rourke, the reason behind Mack’s fall from grace will be considered much more egregious to many in the public’s view. Time will tell what will come of this actor’s career, but the main concern is her continued treatment towards mental health.
