George Lucas’ galaxy far, far away is continuing to expand with a slate of exciting new works, from the Dave Filoni-helmed Ahsoka spinoff show to a series of new Star Wars movies that will be heading to the big screen in coming years.

Perhaps one of the most mysterious projects currently in the works is the Jude Law-led Skeleton Crew, first announced at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim in 2022. The series comes from executive producers Jon Watts, Jon Favreau, Filoni, and Christoper Ford. Each episode is set to be helmed by different directors, including recent Oscar Award winners, The Daniels.

The series has been described as a 1980s-style coming-of-age adventure along the same vein as Steven Spielberg’s Goonies (1985) and will see Law’s character, a Jedi, helping a small band of lost younglings as they travel the galaxy. On their journey home, they’ll face some dangerous adversaries along the way, including swashbuckling pirates.

To celebrate May the fourth, Disney+ released a special trailer paying homage to the franchise and its legacy. In it, fans were given glimpses of heroes like Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), and others.

One moment in the minute-long sizzle stood out amongst the rest; a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot of Law in Skeleton Crew. In it, the actor can be seen wearing torn-up Jedi-like robes, hiding his face under his hood as he looks out from behind a column at an offscreen event.

Details about Law’s character—other than the fact that he’s Force-sensitive—have yet to be revealed. His motivations behind helping the group of lost children remain unknown, but according to early footage screened at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023, he uses the Force to help them escape prison.

While Skeleton Crew has yet to get an official release date, it will arrive on Disney+ sometime in 2023. For now, fans will have to wait patiently for a trailer to come out, but hopefully, more information about Skeleton Crew will come to light soon.
