At Walt Disney World Resort, Guests can now utilize Disney Genie, a new way to plan out your day and skip the standby queue if you choose to use the paid system.

The Disney Genie was announced to Guests years ago and finally implemented at Walt Disney World this year.

Disney Genie was recently added to the My Disney Experience app, which is a new way for Guests to plan their day. Disney Genie is meant for those who are unsure on what they should do while at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios and gives them a variety of specifically catered options. On top of that, Disney Genie also has a Disney Genie+ feature. For $15.00 per day per Guest, you can skip the long standby queue by making a Lightning Lane reservation (new FastPass) and returning at that time.

At each Park, however, there are two attractions that Guests would need to purchase a separate Lightning Lane ticket for if they wanted to skip those lines. Those attractions are:

  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • Space Mountain
  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
  • Frozen Ever After
  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
  • Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
  • Avatar Flight of Passage
  • Expedition Everest

Guests can only make one Lightning Lane at a time, or one an hour. It will give you a return time for an attraction, but it seems that if you arrive to the Park later in the day, you may be out of luck. With the holiday crowds here at Disney World, it seems Guests are using the Lightning Lane option and selling out attractions hours before the Park’s close.

WDW Stats (@wdwstats) has already posted that attractions are no longer available to book on Lightning Lane hours before the Park is set to close. This means that if you wanted to ride Toy Story Mania, for example, you would have to do it via the standby queue.

It seems DINOSAUR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is also gone.

To add to the list, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith as well as Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Frozen Ever After, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and more are all also sold out. That being the case, it seems like Guests would have needed to start their Lightning Lane journey as soon as the Park opened to get enough use out of the offering.
