For the first since its inception in 2011, Dapper Day will not hold a get-together Spring Event in Magic Kingdom. Outside the 2020 events being canceled in light of the global pandemic, this will be the first spring occasion that will not be held at Magic Kingdom. Instead, Disney Guests can expect to step out at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT Parks.
Fan-Favorite Spring Event Snubs Magic Kingdom
Dapper Day released its Spring Walt Disney World Event dates just a few weeks ago, and ever since, dapper guests have been planning their outfits for the Spring frolic. Dapper Day has become so popular that both Spring and Fall events have been held at Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
Originating in February 2011, the unofficial event was started by Los Angeles designer Justin J. “DAPPER DAY® is an organization that celebrates fun, refined style from yesterday and today. We’re best known for producing events that let you “step out in style” at museums, amusement parks, and other destinations like LA Phil and LA Opera. DAPPER DAY is also a personal accessories brand with designs and fashion collaborations that reflect our “whimsical-chic” aesthetic.”
The “DAPPER DAY Outing to the Parks,” advertised fall dates via their Twitter account, which leads to their Events page on the Dapper Day website. Up until today, Spring Walt Disney World outing Parks were listed as “TBD,” leaving rabid fashionistas wondering what to pack. “Held every Spring and Fall, our DAPPER DAY Expo at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim is the biggest style celebration in California. With a 30,000 sq. ft. marketplace of clothing and accessories, jewelry, barbers, beauty products, and beyond, our Expo attracts 10,000 guests every season.”
Now the Parks are listed as EPCOT, coinciding with the International Flower and Garden Festival on Saturday, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on the Sunday event date. For the first time since Dapper Day visited Walt Disney World Resort in the Springtime, Magic Kingdom will not be a destination (it should be noted that EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are routinely the Fall Dapper Day destinations).
What to Wear to Dapper Day?
The official advice from Justin J. is to “Dress up a little, or a lot! We celebrate fun, refined style from vintage classics to chic, contemporary looks! Active and retired service members are encouraged to wear your dress uniforms if you like.” Just as visitors to the Disney Parks dressed in their best in the 1950s and 1960s, this unofficial Disney day celebrates the very same.
Dapper Day enthusiasts not only love to dress up in vintage style, they also love to Disneybound at the same time. Oftentimes, you’ll see dresses presenting as Disney Princesses, or perhaps a Disneybound as a villain in pressing style. Dapper Guests often bring creativity and impressive style, all in one bundle. That being said, feel free to attend and just people watch. The looks are to die for!
If you’re planning to visit the Parks with the Dapper Day group, be sure to book your own Park ticket and Park Pass Reservation. While the group does not offer ticket discounts currently, they frequently offer Resort hotel group rates that can be picked up by visiting their website.
